iOS 17 will turn your locked iPhone into a true smart display

Apple is working on a new feature In iOS 17, which turns the iPhone screen into a smart home-like display, according to a report by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg. As the Bloomberg reporter points out, the interface information such as weather, calendar appointments and when notifications the phone is locked and tilted horizontally.

For example, when your iPhone is docked in a horizontal position to a MagSafe charging stand, the smart home interface will appear that mimics what users might see with a device like the Echo Show or Google Nest Hub. This feature will build on the widget options that Apple added to the lock screen in iOS 16. but it will take the experience further.

If Mark Gurman’s information is confirmed, Apple will greatly increase the usefulness of iPhones when placed on a desk or nightstand, allowing users to have a glance at practical information. It is not yet known what other information Apple may display on this new lock screen.

That’s why Apple is actively exploring alternative methods to turn its devices into smart home displays. This includes developing an affordable tablet that magnetically attaches to walls and stands. Therefore, Apple can follow in the footsteps of Google, which recently launched its first tablet, the Pixel Tablet. This can transform into a true Nest Hub type smart display when placed on its base equipped with a speaker.
