The iPadOS 13.7 update is a minor milestone upgrade, but it may still take some time to download and install on your computer. iPad, iPad Pro, iPad Airor iPad mini.
The latest version iPadOS 13 comes with bug fixes for ongoing issues. There aren’t any new features on board, but it’s a significant upgrade.
If you migrate your iPad from iPadOS 13.6.1 to iPadOS 13.7, you will have the shortest changelog and smallest download size.
If you’re migrating your tablet from an older version of iOS (i.e. iPadOS 13.4.1), your iPadOS 13.7 update will be much larger because the features and fixes from the updates you skipped are baked in.
Some of you may want to stick with iOS 12, iPadOS 13.1, iPadOS 13.1.1, iPadOS 13.1.2, iPadOS 13.1.3, iPadOS 13.2, iPadOS 13.2.2, iPadOS 13.2.3, iPadOS 13.3, iPadOS 13.3. 1, iPadOS 13.4, iPadOS 13.4.1, iPadOS 13.5, iPadOS 13.5.1, iPadOS 13.6 or iPadOS 13.6.1, most people should download iPadOS 13.7 update right now.
If you decide to install iPadOS 13.7 today, you’ll want to take some time to install Apple’s new firmware on your tablet.
Moving your iPad from one version of iPadOS to another can cause problems, so you’ll want to monitor the download and installation process.

Pre-Installation
Before starting the iPadOS 13.7 download, make sure you’re ready to migrate.
If you don’t know how to do this, please take a look at our pre-installation guide. It will guide you through the most important steps to take before tapping Download.
Most of you will be able to complete these steps in 30 minutes or less, but there is a chance it will take longer. In some cases, much longer.
You don’t need to follow every step in our guide, but you will at least want to make sure your iPad’s data (photos, videos, etc.) is backed up.
iPadOS 13.7 Download
When you’re ready, you’ll want to start the iPadOS 13.7 download.
The exact size of the iPadOS 13.7 download will depend on your iPad version and the version of the embedded operating system.
If your iPad is currently running iPadOS 13.6.1, your download will be quite small. If you’re using older software like iOS 12, your download may be larger than a gigabyte.
If you are connected to a fast Wi-Fi network, the iPadOS 13.7 download can be completed in a few minutes. If your connection is slower or you are currently running an older firmware, it will obviously take longer, perhaps as long as 10 or 15 minutes.
iPadOS 13.7 Installation
Once your iPad has finished pulling iPadOS 13.7 from Apple servers, the installation process will begin. This will probably take longer than the download.
If you’re upgrading from iPadOS 13.6.1, it may take about seven minutes to complete the installation. It took about seven minutes on an iPad Pro running the previous version of iPadOS 13.
If you’re upgrading your iPad from legacy firmware, it may take 10 minutes or longer for your installation to complete.
Note that your iPad may restart itself several times during the setup process. This is completely normal.
Post install
After the installation process is complete, you may need to spend time logging into your iCloud account, signing into your device’s various apps and services, and/or setting up Apple Pay.
You may want to spend some time checking your important data (photos, videos, music, etc.) to make sure everything is still there.
After doing that, you should test your core apps and services to make sure they are working normally. If you notice a problem with an app, try downloading the latest version. Developers are still rolling out iPadOS 13 support updates and these will help stabilize performance.
