After several months of testing Elgato Eve accessories, Eve Room and Eve Weather have worked well and have proven useful, but you need a real desire to track this type of information.

There are also door and window sensors working with Elgato Eve accessories, notifies you when a door or window is opened or closed. They do a good job at this, but it’s not something I need to monitor the air quality of my home office the way I do.

The Eve Room’s air quality sensor is the most interesting to me, as I live near a quarry that regularly covers the neighborhood with a fine layer of stone dust. The small sensor sits on a desk or bookshelf and connects wirelessly to your iPhone to transmit information.
On the first day the air quality sensor showed chart levels, which caused a scare, but this is part of a calibration style thing that eventually settled. There are times when my office air quality isn’t perfect, but mostly good.
It’s HomeKit compatible, so you can use Siri to ask questions about the information it’s tracking. Setup is simple and in the last few months I’ve only had to reset the device once, probably because I changed a home network and iPhone.

Eve Room can also measure temperature and humidity. The sensor lets me know my office is running about three degrees hotter than the main area of my home. This is one reason I switched from Nest to Ecobee, it will allow me to place a remote sensor in my office to keep the temperature in line.
Users without a smart thermostat can use the Eve Room to tell whether the temperature in the home is low in winter or high in summer due to a malfunctioning oven or air conditioner.
If you like knowing exactly how hot and humid your backyard is, Eve Weather is a great hyper local weather station. It won’t tell you if it’s raining or snowing, but it will survive anything the Ohio weather might throw at it. The Eve Weather sits outside on a flat surface or can be hung on a screw. It was almost covered with snow and baked at 100 degrees without any problems.
The Elgato Eve app monitors data for you, allowing you to see current and historical information.
The Eve app tracks information well, but lacks a way to educate users on what to do, for example, if the air quality is bad. The sensors do a good job of keeping you informed, but then you need to investigate and act. That’s not a problem for the Eve Weather sensor, which is basically a high-tech personal weather station, but Eve Room should provide clues when something is out of line.
In general, the Elgato Eve Weather and Eve Room accessories work well. I wish the app did a better job of telling users what to do when something dangerous level happens at home. If you want to monitor your home from anywhere and ask Siri for this information, Elgato Eve accessories are for you.
