If you want to switch from iOS 9.1 to iOS 9.0.2, that is no longer possible as Apple stopped signing the old version of iOS 9.
Frankly, it was only a matter of time before that happened. Apple released iOS 9.1 last week that comes with a host of bug fixes, performance improvements, and new emoji for users to enjoy. However, the update also fixed the iOS 9 jailbreak from Pangu, meaning jailbreakers could not update to iOS 9.1 without losing their jailbreak.
However, for those who accidentally updated to iOS 9.1, there was a small window of time when you could upgrade to iOS 9.0.2 as Apple still signed the old version, but that is no longer possible unfortunately.
So, if you’ve updated to iOS 9.1 but haven’t downgraded yet, or haven’t upgraded to iOS 9 yet to jailbreak the new version, you’re out of luck.
Usually Apple doesn’t allow users to downgrade to an older version of iOS, but after they release a new version or update, they secretly keep the old version open for a week or two. This allows users to downgrade using a somewhat proprietary restore method in iTunes.
An iOS 9 jailbreak was released a few weeks ago, just days before iOS 9.1 arrived and about a month after iOS 9 was first released. This was the fastest jailbreak we’ve seen in a while for a major release of iOS, as it usually took a few months to release.
Currently, there is no word on whether an iOS 9.1 jailbreak will be coming soon. We usually get little bits of progress from jailbreak developers, but we haven’t heard anything yet.
If they release the iOS 9.1 jailbreak too soon, it’s very possible that Pangu will wait for iOS 9.2 to be released so that their exploits will not be fixed again. Apple likes to stay up to date on this and fix jailbreak vulnerabilities whenever possible, so if a new jailbreak is released, Apple is guaranteed to patch them in the next update if possible.
Apple recently switched to a faster release schedule, starting with iOS 8 last year, which means more and more iOS updates are released, making it harder for jailbreak vulnerabilities to stay for long as a new iOS update will be coming quickly. Fix it. It’s a new roadblock for the jailbreaking community, but it should have had a big impact so far.
Of course, those who are still on iOS 9.0.2 can still jailbreak their iPhones and iPads, because Pangu jailbreak is still up and running for those who want to use it, unless you update it to iOS 9.1.
iOS 9 jailbreak is perhaps the best when it comes to jailbreak tweaks. Several new settings have been released that take advantage of new iOS 9 features, such as Split View multitasking on older iPads and even getting the 3D Touch capabilities of the iPhone 6s on older iPhones.
We’ve also talked about a handful of other tweaks jailbreakers should check out, and the iOS 9 Cydia tweaks selection is better than ever.
Of course, we don’t blame you if you want to update to iOS 9.1 to take advantage of the new emoji, but you’ll lose your jailbreak in the process, so it’s a decision you shouldn’t take lightly. . The good news is that while some users are currently having issues with these, there are jailbreak tweaks available that can give you the new iOS 9.1 emojis, but they should be updated soon.
