Clash of Clans Update Issues Are Annoying Players

Today, the big December Clash of Clans update has finally arrived after nearly two months of waiting, and we’re already receiving countless reports of issues or bugs. This is the biggest update in the game in a long time, offering Town Hall level 11, a 3rd hero, larger maps and over 25 other changes. All in all, there are quite a few issues floating around, and below are some potential fixes for those who are having trouble.

For starters, the game is played by millions and millions of players on both Android and iOS who are excited about the new update. Users are redesigning their bases due to new Town Hall shield rules, attacking players, participating in Battles and more. So much in fact that this morning the game started to lag and Supercell short break boosting servers to handle the extra load.

However, that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Ever since the Town Hall 11 update arrived on the morning of December 10, users have been underwater most forums with different problems. Town Hall clicks crash the game, people can’t update, there’s a lagging game and more. Read on for everything we know and what to expect going forward.

First, we’re seeing a lot of complaints about Clash of Clans crashing when users click on Town Hall. This is a big problem, mainly because we have to click to move the Town Hall inside the walls and protect the bases while redesigning them. Users also click on the Town Hall to re-set traps and perform other tasks. This problem and more Approved by Supercelland possibly an update with lots of fixes will be released within the next day.

The game crashes if any x-springs or hells are currently updating and a user clicks on the Town Hall. This is a known issue and will likely be fixed shortly.

Town hall

In an environment where so many people are looking for the best bases online, the “Top Clans” and “Top Players” areas in the trophy section are progressing slowly and much more. Players keep getting kicked for playing for too long, this is actually a new feature called “personal break timer” where users can only play for 3 hours. This is to avoid cheaters listed as “always online”, but this fix will do more harm than good.

Personal Break Timer

This morning we see numerous Clashers updating the game, spending some time redesigning their bases, attacking villages, talking to Clan mates, and starting wars. If more than three hours are played, the personal break timer kicks in and kicks players out of the game. If they haven’t been attacked after 6 minutes, they’ll get 15 minutes to play again. It is then kicked for another six minutes. and you can play for 3 more hours.

If you are entering the personal break timer shown above, close the game for 30 minutes and it will reset. This will probably be one of the first changes made in an upcoming update because 3 hours isn’t long enough. Supercell actually makes people play their games littlehow is that a good thing?

That said, here is a list of all known issues since the update arrived today. Supercell knows all of these and is working hard to solve them. No announcement has been made yet, but we can expect another quick bug fix update in the next 24-48 hours.

Known Update Issues

These are just a few of the issues that Supercell has already confirmed, tracked and hopefully working on a fix. We also hear that the “return home” button is slow for some, some are reporting that they are unable to donate troops in battle, and users are not seeing an upgrade in the Spell Factory to upgrade and freeze enchantments.

Freeze Spells

Town Hall 9 players now have access to the freeze spell that was originally only for Town Hall 10. Multiple people have asked why they can’t upgrade to get the freeze enchantment, and that’s why. It’s already there. Just go to the spell factory and cast a level 1 freeze spell.

Spell Grants

Part of the new update allows clan members to donate dark elixir spells to other clan members. Similar to asking for regular troop donations, we see a lot of questions about how to request spells.

magic donation

You don’t have to ask for magic. Request as usual and there are two lines. One for soldiers, the other for magic. In the donation popup type which troops you want along with and hit the request button.

Lost Dark Elixir

Another change is that the Town Hall now has gold, elixir and dark elixir. As a result, some users who had the full 200k Dark Elixir on the TH9 are now only able to keep 190k. That’s 180k in the dark elixir storage and 10k in the Town Hall. If you’ve updated and found that 10,000 people are missing, it’s not gone, it’s currently being held at City Hall.

If you have a full 200k, you’ve probably lost 10k because the TH9 can now only hold 190k Dark Elixir. We’re not sure if Supercell will address this.

Lost Village

Few users claim that after the update they completely lost all the progress and the game restarted. Essentially, an entire village is missing. In this case, you need to try syncing with Game Center or Google+ Games on iOS by pressing the in-game settings button and get your village back. On Android, singing in game Google+ will bring back an old village.

If that still doesn’t work, users Contact Supercell. However, thousands of emails are coming in due to the update, so it may take more than 7-10 days for users to receive a response. Players must provide the village name, clan name, Town Hall level and player level if applicable. The more details and uniqueness the name/clan name is, the more likely they are to find and restore a village. Good luck.

Clash of Clans Update Issues

Above are just a few of the many issues users are talking about today after the massive Town Hall 11 Clash of Clans update. Again, this is the biggest update in a long time and with over 100 million downloads on both Android and iOS, a lot of people are playing this game.

Users report slowness in certain aspects of the game, soldiers moving during battles, and other things. These may all be due to servers overload and they will all be fixed shortly. For those who have problems, go to forum Raise your issue and stay tuned because in a day or two an update will be released with some quick fixes. Your thoughts on the new update?
