Clash of Clans Town Hall 13 Update: 5 Things to Know

The next big Clash of Clans update has finally arrived here The Town Hall is packed with new stuff, including the 13 upgrade and a few exciting new units. super cell started to mock fans earlier this month, but now you can upgrade today and start trying new attack strategies. Everything you need to know, what to expect, what’s missing, and more.

This comes a little over a year and a half after Town Hall 12 launched, which is faster than many expected. And while many players are likely excited for the TH13, it’s the upgrades to the Builder Base that are sorely needed and yet to come. Read on for more details.

Clash of Clans Town Hall 13 Release Date

Yes, the leaks and rumors were true and a big, powerful and exciting new Town Hall 13 available As of December 9, just as we expected. There are lots of innovations like the 4th hero, making this one of the biggest updates in over a year.

Based on previous versions and updates, we thought the Town Hall 13 update would arrive on December 9th, and that’s when it arrived. We’re also seeing some pretty big “packages” in the store, which will really help you get the most out of this upgrade moment. Don’t spend too much money though, save it for the holidays.

Builder Base 10 Left Behind

Perhaps the least exciting news for the average gamer is that the Clash of Clans December 2019 update brings nothing to Builder Base. The neglected stepchild who rarely updated, had nothing exciting, and needed something new last year. Unfortunately, this was all about Town Hall and we didn’t receive a Builder Hall 10 update. This probably won’t happen until 2020 with the big April update.

Clash of Clans Town Hall 13 Update: 5 Things to Know 2

The video Supercell posted may contain some potential spoilers. If you look closely at the start when they are displayed on “09”, there is a “Top Secret Plan” showing the Dark Elixir exercise. This may mean nothing, but it could also indicate some much-needed changes are coming, we just don’t know when.

We were finally able to obtain spells on the Builder Base, a Wizard troop, or a second hero for the Builder Base. Who knows?

Royal Champion (4th Hero)

Another rumor we’ve heard over the past few years is that Supercell may be preparing to release a fourth hero. And little did you know, they really did! Yep, this week the developers confirmed that an awesome new fourth hero is coming along with Town Hall 13 and the December Clash of Clans update. At first we thought there would be a second hero for Builder Base, but no. Here’s what you need to know.

As you can see above, hero 4 is a feisty and fearless warrior with a spear and shield. He seems to do typical damage by throwing his spear at the nearest target, and can even jump over walls. But the best aspect of the Royal Champion is his special ability. When charged, the Archer throws his Shield instead of a cloak like the Queen and instantly destroys the 4 nearest buildings, no matter how far away they are. This could be City Hall and an inferno tower in the middle of the base, or the last four buildings at the four corners of a base. This is a strategy we see often. The end of the video above illustrates this well, and it’s great.

The King and Queen came out with Town Hall 9. Then, after two upgrades, we got the Great Guard with Town Hall 11. Following this release schedule, after two upgrades, players get the 4th hero with Town Hall 13. It came just in time.

New Siege Barracks, Scattershot, and Yeti

Obviously we’re getting a lot of new stuff. One of the most interesting is the all-new Siege Barracks. It’s like a secondary Clan Stronghold preloaded with troops and will be crucial to TH13 attack strategies. Depending on your attack, you can unlock it at certain moments to release certain troops or something like that.

The Siege Barracks is what we see in the teaser footage soaring in the sky. I’m glad it’s not a loot chest that costs money like most games these days. Then there seems to be something new coming into the game, a defensive unit called the Scattershot. It’s basically a catapult that can somehow target both air and ground, deal splash damage, and is essentially a better mortar.

There are also some strange new Ice Troops known as the “Yeti”, which are somewhat similar to the Ice Golem, but different, yet similar. All of these new additions have familiar mechanics or features, almost as if Supercell had run out of ideas. Either way, it looks exciting and here’s the trailer.

Tons of Changes, New Troops, In-App Purchases etc. Wait

The team at Supercell has been saying for months that a major update is on the way. Supercell usually releases a few minor updates here and there throughout the year, leveling things up and maybe upgrading a building or defense. However, we usually get 1-3 BIG content updates per year during the summer and again towards the end of the year.

As we said before, the December Clash of Clans update in 2018 brought a lot of good stuff like Electro Dragon. This is a similar major update to end the year and take the game into 2020. You can buy winter packs, TH13 packs and much more in the shop.

Clash of Clans Town Hall 13 Update: 5 Things to Know 3

With the Town Hall 13 upgrade, players will get loads of upgrades for almost every major building, troop, defense, gold and potion drills and more. However, they will also have a few new troops to talk to. Basically anything and everything that comes with the big Town Hall updates.

But what worries me is the constant efforts to get players to spend more money EVERY month. I call it the Fortnite effect. The $5-a-month season pass is just the beginning, and I think we’re going to see more of this sort of thing in 2020.

In closing, there is another video showing the latest YETI unit. However, we recommend that you start the game, download the update and start enjoying Town Hall 13 right now. I ran into exactly a few Town Hall 13 bases this morning, which makes me feel bad for these players’ wallets.

Then expect some kind of update late this week or early next week to fix the issues with early Town Hall 13. We’ll be taking at least 1-2 maintenance breaks this week as Supercell tweaks the experience or fixes minor issues in the update. Entertainment.
