Apple wants to say goodbye to the ‘Hey Siri’ formula, but may bite its fingers

Since the launch of Siri on their iPhones, Apple has continued to improve its voice assistant. However, while the latter is entitled to multiple updates and integrations on the firm’s devices, most likely even the upcoming Apple Car, the latter still hasn’t fixed a very annoying issue. Siri has a tendency to shut down for no reason.

Of course, in this case it’s not just that. It regularly happens that all voice assistants, whether it’s Google or Amazon, are accidentally launched just when their name is mentioned. And if this concern is so annoying for users, Apple seems to have nothing to do with it and could make the situation a little worse. In any case, this is what journalist Mark Gurman reported for Bloomberg.

Apple wants to trigger Siri just by name

According to the latter, Apple wants to “simplify” the process by removing the “Dis” from the Siri trigger command. In other words, the voice assistant can be summoned simply by name followed by a command. Of course, there are many obstacles to such an update, especially since Siri has different pronunciations according to languages and accents of each.

But above all, it will be up to Siri to distinguish between a genuine intention to call him and the simple call of his name in a conversation. Suffice it to say that given the number of accidents triggered to date, the situation already seems very complex. Mark Gurman explains that while we can imagine the launch of the company’s new Homepod, we do not know when this feature will appear.
