If you like the new Apple TV remote but have some issues with it, here are some Apple TV remote problems and fixes you should check out.
The new Apple TV has been around for a few months now, and it’s a major overhaul over the previous model, which comes with third-party app support, gaming, Siri features, and a new user interface.
There’s also a brand new remote that comes with a built-in trackpad, motion sensors, a Siri button, and dedicated volume buttons for adjusting your television’s volume directly from the remote.
It’s no surprise that the new Apple TV remote is much better than the old one. The old remote has remained untouched since 2007 so it definitely had to go through an overhaul, and Apple certainly delivered on it.
However, the new Apple TV remote still comes with its problems. Here are some Apple TV remote issues and fixes you should know.
Remote Scrolling from the Table
It’s pretty annoying when this happens. The slick aluminum on the remote makes it glide pretty easily on any smooth flat surface, so it shouldn’t be surprising to discover that your Apple TV keeps slipping off the stand.
It won’t necessarily break the remote, especially if you have carpeted floors, but it’s really annoying when it happens.
To prevent this from happening, simply place a small rubber band on the bottom of the remote. Not only does this give the remote some grip so it doesn’t slip, it also
Lost Remote Control
Lost your Apple TV remote? This is one of the most common problems with the Apple TV remote and has always been an issue for as long as the Apple TV has existed.
Whether the Apple TV remote is between your sofa cushions or your dog is running away with it, it’s small enough to easily get lost, a lost Apple TV remote is one of the biggest Apple TV problems overall.
A clever fix is to add a Bluetooth tracker to the back of the Apple TV remote. These are small and thin discs that you can add to just about anything. An example TileFeaturing a built-in speaker that you can activate from your smartphone, which theme emits a loud ping so you can find your lost Apple TV remote as long as it’s within Bluetooth range.
Accidentally Stealing the Remote Control
It’s probably happened to you while playing Nintendo Wii and at some point it has to happen (or has already happened) with your new Apple TV remote. You’ll be playing a game that uses motion detection, and as you wave your arm, the remote control comes out of your hand and flies into the wall.
They’re a good way to crack your Apple TV remote, and at $79 for a spare remote, they’re by no means cheap.
Fortunately, a Remote LoopA strap that you wear around your wrist so the Apple TV remote doesn’t accidentally fly out of your hand and break. It’s only $13 and well worth the cost.
Trackpad Scroll
One feature that I and other users have encountered is the trackpad on the remote. This is definitely a great feature, but it may take some getting used to.
This is because the trackpad has built-in acceleration; This means that the faster you swipe on the trackpad, the more items you can swipe over. And the slower you scroll, the less items you can scroll over.
If the trackpad is too sensitive for you, you can’t adjust the sensitivity, but you can change the acceleration rate. Go in and you can change it to Fast, Medium or Slow. Try each one to see which one you like best.
