8 More Great iOS 9 Cydia Tweaks

An iOS 9 jailbreak was released last week, which brought a bunch of new jailbreak tweaks to the scene. Here are eight awesome iOS 9 Cydia tweaks you should check out.

The release of the iOS 9 jailbreak came as a surprise to most of the jailbreaking community, especially those who were waiting for the jailbreak to be released. We’ve all been waiting for the jailbreak to be released after the iOS 9.1 update is released, which could happen any day.

However, it seems that the jailbreak developers are not waiting for Apple and have decided to release the iOS 9 jailbreak to everyone. If you’re interested in jailbreaking your iPhone or iPad and you haven’t done so yet, we have an easy-to-do guide that takes you through the process.

Users can now enjoy all the great new features in iOS 9 as well as the great features that jailbreak has to offer. There are also many new settings that take advantage of the exclusive features in iOS 9 as well as the iPhone 6s.

We’ve already discussed a few iOS 9 Cydia tweaks worth installing on your jailbroken iPhone or iPad, but if you’re looking for fresh blood, here are eight more awesome iOS 9 Cydia tweaks that you should install right now.

SpotlightBeGone

Spotlight Search on iOS has been around for a long time and can be pretty helpful, but if you don’t use it that often and would prefer not to have it, there’s a jailbreak tweak to make it happen.

SpotlightBeGone does a simple thing: it gets rid of Spotlight Search completely, so if you swipe right or down it won’t do anything.

This isn’t a tweak for everyone as most users like Spotlight Search, but if you find yourself never using it, there’s no point taking up space on your iPhone and activating it accidentally, so it’s best to just disable it completely.

Shortcuts

We showed how to get 3D Touch capabilities of iPhone 6s on older iPhones and let users access Quick Actions in some apps from home screen. However, a new tweak adds even more to that.

Since there are some apps that don’t yet have 3D Touch Quick Actions, a tweak called Shortcuts instead adds them and perhaps makes shortcuts better for apps that already have 3D Touch Quick Actions.

Shortcuts provides Cydia 3D Touch Quick Actions and also gives Spotify some great shortcuts of its own.

Universal Force

So one problem with bringing 3D Touch features to older iPhones is that not all 3D Touch features work, especially Peek and Pop. Older iPhones don’t have a pressure-sensitive screen, so you can perform two different actions for a long press.

But a tweak called UniversalForce makes it work using separate gestures. For example, you can long-press a photo in the Photos app and then swipe up to Browse the photo. Swiping up further will explode the photo and open it completely.

It’s a workaround for the cheating 3D Touch, although not as good as the actual 3D Touch on the iPhone 6s.

To make these 3D Touch settings even better, you can install a tweak called Hapticle that provides vibration feedback every time you enable 3D Touch on your iPhone.

3D Touch Quick Actions on iPhone 6

Without the Hapticle, activating a 3D Touch feature with a tweak mentioned earlier won’t give you a vibration, which is sort of a part of the whole feature, but Hapticle gets it done.

Some 3D Touch tweaks are starting to include vibration by default, so Hapticle was less needed, but still has a place on your currently jailbroken iPhone.

UnconnectedHeySiri

Introduced in iOS 8, Hey Siri is a feature users can enjoy while their iPhone is plugged in, giving you complete hands-free use of Siri by issuing “Hey Siri” followed by a command.

With the iPhone 6s, this feature works whether the device is docked or not, whereas older iPhones need it docked.

But with a tweak called UntetheredHeySiri, you can use Hey Siri on any iPhone with or without it, and that includes devices running iOS 8, not just iOS 9.

World News

Apple’s News app is a new app the company introduced in iOS 9, similar to Flipboard or any other curated app like it, that gives users a one-stop shop for all the news they might want.

However, the app is not available everywhere. US users may enjoy it, but there are a few countries where the app is not available on iPhone or iPad.

Fortunately, if you have a jailbroken iPhone, you can install a tweak called NewsoftheWorld that unlocks the News app even if you’re in a country where the app isn’t officially available at Apple.

Of course, you’re probably not that desperate to get the News app, as many third-party apps like this do the trick just fine.

There’s a new feature in iOS 9 that puts links in apps back when you transfer from one to another. For example, if you’re in the Facebook app and open a link from the app to Safari, a small link will appear in the top corner that says “Back to Facebook”, making it easy to jump back without using the app switcher.

However, if you find this more annoying than anything else, there is a setting to get rid of this new feature. BreadcrumbsAway is a jailbreak tweak that gets rid of those links in the top corners. I personally find that they mess up the status bar a lot and I tend to use the app switcher anyway.

SwitcherTweak

The new app switcher in iOS 9 does something a little different than it does in iOS 8. First, it arranges and swipes apps in the opposite direction of iOS 8, and also overlaps apps so you don’t have to hide them. Scroll to find the app you want.

If you want to change the default orientation of the app switcher, there is a tweak called SwitcherTweak that can do that easily.

This is ideal if you are using the default orientation in iOS 8 and want the same in iOS 9.
