As for the performance of the software, iOS 14.8.1 runs smoothly on our device. The software feels fast, and we didn’t encounter any UI lag in key areas like the Control Center, Notification Center, or the keyboard. Apps open quickly on our device, and animations and transitions feel fluid.
We did not encounter any abnormal battery drain and connectivity (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS) is currently strong. We had a similar experience on iOS 14.8
All of our primary apps are stable now, which includes Slack, Asana, Spotify, Chrome, and Gmail. Developers are still releasing iOS 14 support updates. If you have problems, try downloading the latest version as it can help stabilize the performance of the application.
We did not encounter any major bugs or performance issues while running iOS 14.8.1. We’ll let you know if this changes.

iOS 14.8 Downgrade Disabled
If you migrate your iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus to iOS 14.8.1 and you hate performance, keep in mind that you can no longer downgrade your iPhone.
Apple stopped signing in iOS 14.8; This means that you cannot rollback your device’s software to the previous version of iOS 14 to improve its performance.
The company also does not sign older versions of iOS. So if you are having a good experience on iOS 14.8 or older, take your time. There is no going back once you upgrade to iOS 14.8.1.

Apple’s iOS 14.8.1 update brings 12 security patches to iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. There are no known bug fixes or features on board.

If you skipped iOS 14.5.1, you will get its changes with iOS 14.8.1. iOS 14.5.1 was a minor upgrade with three changes on board.
It included a bug fix for an issue with App Tracking Transparency where some users who had previously disabled Allow Apps to Request Tracking in Settings were not getting prompts from apps after re-enabling them.

the developers behind checkra1n and UnC0ver jailbreaking tools have released versions compatible with newer versions of iOS 14. Unfortunately, they are not compatible with iOS 14.8.1. At least not yet.
