1. Re-Enter Password
This trick fixed the problem for us and our iPhone no longer bothered with the Mail app asking for a password.
Maybe you’ve changed the password for your Gmail or Outlook email account, and you may need to re-enter the new password to continue syncing emails with the Mail app.
Stage 1: Open the iPhone Settings app and go to the Mail app.
Step 2: Select Accounts.
Stage 3: Open an account that bothers you by asking for a password.
Step 4: You will see the account not authenticated error and the option to re-enter the password.
Tap on Re-Enter Password and add a new password for your email account. Mail will start syncing new emails and won’t bother asking for authentication again.
2. Disable and Enable Mail Relay
When you use Gmail or Outlook with the Mail app, you have the option to sync Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and Notes with other Apple apps.
To fix the problem that the Mail app keeps asking for a password, you can temporarily disable the Mail toggle and enable it after a while. Here’s how.
Stage 1: On iPhone, open Settings and select the Mail menu.
Step 2: Go to Accounts and choose an email provider that bothers you.
Stage 3: Disable the mail toggle and enable it after a while.
3. Check Sync Settings
There are several options for syncing email data with the Mail app. You can use the Send option, which sends new emails as soon as they are ready, or the Fetch option, which delivers new emails on time.
If you have problems with the Send Email option, you can use Fetch to sync new emails.
Stage 1: On iPhone, open Settings and go to the Mail menu.
Step 2: Select Accounts and turn on Retrieve New Data.
Stage 3: Go to an email account and select Fetch from the menu below.
You can also set the fetch time manually from the Fetch New Data menu.
4. Add Account Again
Are you still facing Mail, asking password issues on iPhone? You have to delete the email account from the app and add it again to fix the problem.
Stage 1: Open iPhone Settings and go to the Mail menu.
Step 2: Select Accounts and open the email account settings.
Stage 3: Tap on Delete Account and confirm your decision.
Step 4: Go back to the Account menu and select Add Account.
Step 5: Select your email provider and sign in using the login information.
You won’t see Mail repeatedly asking for a password.
5. Reset All Settings
A wrong settings setting on your iPhone can leave you with a dysfunctional Mail app constantly asking for password. It’s time to reset settings on iPhone.
Stage 1: Go to iPhone Settings and open the General menu.
Step 2: Select Transfer or Reset iPhone.
Stage 3: Select Reset and Reset All Settings from the context menu.
6. Reinstall the Mail App
Is the Mail app right for you? You have the option of deleting the app and reinstalling it from the App Store. Here’s how.
Long press the Mail app icon and select Uninstall App. Tap on Delete App from the drop-down menu.
Download the Mail app from the App Store and start using the app.
7. Update iOS
Apple distributes Mail app updates along with iOS builds. If your iPhone is stuck on an old iOS build, you need to download and install the latest iOS version.
Go to iPhone Settings and open the General menu. Select Software Updates and install the latest iOS build on iPhone.
