Picture this: You are in a hurry to make a phone call. Take out your iPhone, dial the number and bam! All of a sudden an error pops up saying ‘Last Line Is No Longer Available’. If a similar error message is bothering you, this guide is for you.

This error forces you to use your chosen default line (primary number) for voice calls or FaceTime calls on your iPhone. This means that the default number or line is used to call or text someone, whether the contact is in your iPhone’s contacts or not. But if your iPhone cannot detect this last line (primary number), it will give you the error – Last Line Is No Longer Available. This mostly occurs when you use iPhone in dual SIM mode (regular SIM and eSIM).
We have listed a few troubleshooting tips to help you fix the ‘Last Line Is No Longer Available’ error message on your iPhone right away. So let’s get straight to the point.
1. Restart Your iPhone
First of all, you can start by restarting your iPhone. This should shut down any background processes or services that might be responsible for the error and fix minor incompatibilities.
If you have an iPhone X or later, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and any of the Volume buttons for the shutdown prompt to appear. On older iPhones, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until iPhone prompts you to slide the device to turn it off.

Wait for your device to turn off completely, then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again to turn it on.
2. Clear Call Log
Then try clearing the call log on your iPhone to see if it helps. Oddly enough, several users reported that they were successful in fixing the last line error by clearing the call history on iPhone. You can also try.
Stage 1: Launch the Phone app on your iPhone.
Step 2: Go to the Recents tab and tap on Edit at the top.

Stage 3: Tap Clear in the upper left corner and select Clear All Recents when prompted.

Restart your iPhone and try doing a search to see if the error is now resolved.
3. Switch to Airplane Mode
If the error occurs due to a network related issue, you can toggle the Airplane mode on your iPhone to fix it. Doing so will force your iPhone to reconnect to the network and may resolve the issue.
Swipe down from the top right corner to open the control center. Tap the Airplane icon to turn it on. Wait a minute or two and then turn it off.

4. Remove and Reinsert SIM
If the problem persists, you can try removing and reinserting the physical SIM from your iPhone. Turn off your iPhone first and then use the SIM eject tool to eject the SIM tray. After removing it, clean your SIM with a microfiber cloth and insert it.

Turn on your iPhone and try searching again.
5. Update Carrier Settings
Network carriers also update their settings from time to time. Ideally, these updates are automatically installed in the background. However, if for some reason the update did not happen, you can manually install the pending updates by following the steps below.
Stage 1: Launch the Settings app on your iPhone. Go to General and then tap About.

Step 2: If there are pending updates, you will see a popup. Tap on Update to continue.
Once updated, see if the error is now resolved.
6. Reset Network Settings
If updating carrier settings doesn’t work, you can try resetting network settings on your iPhone. This will return all network settings to their default values and fix any network related issues. Here’s how to do it.
Stage 1: Open Settings on your iPhone and go to General. Scroll down to tap Transfer or Reset iPhone.

Step 2: Tap on the Reset option at the bottom and select Reset Network Settings from the menu that appears.

Enter the lock screen password to verify your identity. Once complete, tap the Reset Network Settings checkbox to begin the restore process.
