It’s easy to polish the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus by setting your eyes on the iPhone X, but that’s a mistake. After spending a day with the iPhone 8 Plus, I found a few surprises that make this an excellent phone, even if the iPhone X offers more.
While it may seem like a minor refresh, new features make it a very different phone. The new glass back makes it a little heavier and a little easier to slide in your pocket. While it looks great, it’s a phone made for a case. Or at least for AppleCare+.
The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are more affordable than the iPhone X, and you can buy them now and probably better find the bolder iPhone X in stock during the holiday season. This alone is not a reason to buy one. unless you really, really need a new iPhone.
I upgraded from an iPhone 7 Plus to a 64GB iPhone 8 Plus with the new gold color option. I wasn’t expecting much. The main reason I own this iPhone is to write most of our setup guides. I replaced and replaced my iPhone 7 Plus, giving up half of my storage in the process. But it pays off a lot for the transition.
