Apple today released the watchOS 6.2 update as a free upgrade for Apple Watch models already running watchOS. This is a landmark update with lots of fixes and some new features.
This update adds ECG support for three new countries and adds support for in-app purchases within Apple Watch apps and other changes and fixes.
The watchOS 6.2 update ships with iOS 13.4 and iPadOS 13.4 with a healthy dose of new features.

What’s new in watchOS 6.2?
This update includes five major changes and also possibly security and bug fixes under the hood.
The biggest change for users in Chile, New Zealand and Turkey is the addition of irregular heart rhythm or afib and ECG support.
Users everywhere can now make in-app purchases in Apple Watch apps.
We’re also seeing a fix for pausing music when switching from Bluetooth connectivity and WiFi.
watchOS 6.2 Reviews
It’s too early yet and I’m testing this update on the Apple Watch 5 with WiFi only. We’ll be looking for reports on watchOS 6.2 performance on LTE models.
watchOS 6.2 Compatibility
The watchOS 6.2 update is compatible with all Apple Watches running watchOS 6. This includes Series 1, Series 2, Series 3, Series 4 and the latest Series 5. To install watchOS 6.2 on your Apple Watch, you need to install iOS 13.4.
watchOS 6.2 Issues
Be on the lookout for watchOS 6.2 issues.
There aren’t many watchOS 6.2 issues that have popped up so far. This is a good thing as Apple Stores are all closed. If you have a problem with this update, you may have to fix the problem yourself or wait a while for help or any changes.
We will monitor the situation for several hours and days and will update if we find any specific issues with the watchOS 6.2 update.
What’s Next for watchOS?
At this point, we expect a couple of monthly watchOS 6 updates, possibly including a few bugfix updates and some updates this year that bring new features.
This summer, we’ll likely learn about the next step, watchOS 7, but you shouldn’t wait for this update until later this year.
