5 Things to Know About iOS 15.0.2 Update

Apple has sent a new iOS 15.0.2 update to iPhone users.

If you have a compatible iPhone, iOS 15.0.2 can be installed immediately. iOS 15.0.2 is compatible with all iOS 15 supported phones including: iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone SE, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro MaxiPhone SE2, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Maxand new iPhone 13 series.

Like the previous version of iOS 15 (iOS 15.0.1), iOS 15.0.2 is a minor points upgrade with a short list of changes. It aims to improve the performance and security of iOS 15.

iOS 15.0.2 Review

If your iPhone is currently running iOS 15.0.1, you will see the smallest download.

For iOS 15.0.1 users, downloading iOS 15.0.2 will require several hundred megabytes of space. iOS 15.0.2 is a 526MB download for iPhone 12 Pro users upgrading from the previous iOS 15 version.

The exact iOS 15.0.2 download size depends on your iPhone model and currently running iOS version. So if your iPhone is running an older version of iOS, you’ll see a larger download as your iOS 15.0.2 update includes changes from the iOS updates you skipped.

If you’re upgrading from iOS 15.0.1, the installation takes less than 10 minutes to complete. It previously took about seven minutes to install on an iPhone 12 Pro and an iPhone X running iOS 15.0.1.

iOS 15.0.2 Issues

iOS 15.0.2 is causing issues for some iPhone users. Some of these issues are brand new, others ported from iOS 15.0.1 and older versions of iOS.

The current list of iOS 15-related issues includes loading issues, UI lag, Exchange issues, first- and third-party app issues, hotspot issues, touchscreen issues, Touch ID and Face ID issues, charging issues, and stuttering.

Apple stopped signing in iOS 15.0.1; this means you cannot downgrade your phone to previous iOS 15 version if iOS 15.0.2 is giving you problems.

You can’t downgrade from iOS 15.0.1 either, so keep that in mind if you’re having a good experience with your current iOS version. Once you upgrade to iOS 15.0.2, you cannot go back.

We expect Apple to release new iOS 14 software in the near future, so you will finally be able to migrate your iPhone back to the previous operating system.

iOS 15.0.2 Update: What’s New

iOS 15.0.2 is a minor point upgrade. It doesn’t have any new features on board, but it does bring bug fixes to Apple’s iPhones. Here is the full list of changes to the ship:

iOS 15.0.2 Jailbreak

developer teams behind checkra1n and UnC0ver jailbreaking tools have released versions compatible with newer versions of iOS 14, but only Checkra1n (currently in beta) is compatible with iOS 14.5. They do not yet support iOS 15.0.2, iOS 15.0.1, iOS 15.0, iOS 14.8, iOS 14.7.1, iOS 14.7, iOS 14.6 or iOS 14.5.1.

The latest version of unC0ver is compatible with newer iPhones including the iPhone 12 series. This is great news if you’ve been waiting to jailbreak your new phone. Unfortunately it is only compatible with versions up to iOS 14.3.

There is no way to downgrade your phone to iOS 14.3 or earlier; this means you are out of luck if you upgrade or have already upgraded to newer iOS software.

Apple has confirmed that a new version of iOS 15 and iOS 15.1 is currently in beta before the public release. The company hasn’t confirmed a specific date, but it will land by October 25.
