5 Things to Know About iOS 12.4.6 Update

Apple has released an iOS 12.4.6 update for iPhone and iPad models that haven’t upgraded to iOS 13 or iPadOS 13.

If your device is currently running iOS 12.4.5, you’ll see the shortest changelog and the smallest iOS 12.4.6 download size.

If your iPhone or iPad is running an older version of iOS 12, your iOS 12.4.6 update may be slightly larger because you’re getting the changes from the iOS updates you skipped.

iOS 12.4.6 Issues

iOS 12.4.6 is a minor maintenance upgrade, but has a huge performance impact in some cases.

We’ve been hearing about various issues including setup issues, weird battery drain, connectivity issues (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS), issues with first- and third-party apps, an abnormal amount of lag, random reboots, and more.

There are also two vulnerabilities affecting the Mail app. Problems, summarized by motherboardallow attackers to modify and delete email messages.

The zero-day attack is reportedly present in all iOS versions between iOS 6 and iOS 13.4. Fortunately, fixes appear to be on the way in Apple’s upcoming iOS 13.5 update. We should see a new version of iOS 12 come out next to it.

If you are tired of the performance of iOS 12.4.6 on your iPhone or iPad, remember that you can upgrade to iOS 12.4.4.

Unfortunately, this option may soon disappear. If you want to get your phone out of iOS 12.4.6, you will probably want to do so in the near future.

Keep this in mind before tapping install, as Apple doesn’t sign in to older versions of iOS 12 (including iOS 12.4.5). Once you upgrade to iOS 12.4.6, there is no going back.

iOS 12.4.6 Update: What’s New

The iOS 12.4.6 update does not bring any new features to the iPhone and iPad. It includes new security patches, but Apple has not detailed them.

iOS 12.4.6 Jailbreak

You can jailbreak iOS 12, but with iOS 12.4.6 you’ll want to be careful.

If you own an iPhone XR, iPhone XS, or iPhone XS Max, you can jailbreak iOS 12 using the following. Chimera jailbreak tool. However, your device must be running iOS 12.0-iOS 12.1.2. Unfortunately, there is no way to go back to these updates.

We’re not sure what’s next for iOS 12 users.

Nothing has been confirmed, but don’t be surprised if the company releases iOS 12.4.

Apart from the change of plan, the iOS 13.5 update should start rolling out to iPhone users in mid-May so you can expect a new version of iOS 12.
