The company’s iOS 11.2.6 update is another maintenance release for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch users, although much smaller than iOS 11.2.5, the previous version of iOS 11.

We’ve been running the iOS 11.2.6 update for a few weeks now on iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 7 and other iPhone and iPad models. Here are a few quick notes on its performance.
iOS 11.2.6 battery life is stable at the moment. We did not notice any strange drops after installing the software on our phones or tablets.
We did not notice any connection issues. Wi-Fi speeds seem normal and we can connect our devices to various Bluetooth devices including headphones and speakers. GPS and cellular data also seem to work fine.
We didn’t notice any major issues with core apps like Twitter, Slack, Asana, Gmail, Chrome or Spotify. Also, we haven’t seen any UI lag on the newer models, although older devices continue to have issues.
Most people should install iOS 11.2.6 to fix a crash issue, but those of you using older devices and running outdated software should be careful.

iOS 11.2.6 Update: What’s New
iOS 11.2.6 is focused on fixing a springboard issue.
Back in February, iOS users discovered a pretty nasty iOS 11.2.5 bug that allowed people to send a certain character that crashed an iOS-powered device and blocked access to the Messages app. The error can also block apps like Facebook Messenger, Gmail, Outlook, and WhatsApp.
Apple has promised a fix, and the fix is included in the iOS 11.2.6 update. If you are dealing with this issue, we recommend that you upgrade to iOS 11.2.6 immediately.
iOS 11.2.6 also fixes an issue where some third-party apps cannot connect to external accessories.

The iOS 11.2.6 update is causing various issues for iPhone and iPad users.
iOS 11.2.6 users complain of excessive battery drain, connectivity issues (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, cellular data), Touch ID, Face ID, first and third party apps, missing battery indicators and UI lag. Also looks like smart punctuation is broken.

If you run into an iOS 11.2.6 issue and you can’t fix it yourself, you’re stuck until Apple releases the next version of iOS 11.
Apple no longer logs out from iOS 11.2.5, iOS 11.2.2, iOS 11.2.1, iOS 11.2 or any of the older iOS updates. This is a permanent change and the company will not reopen these downgrades.
Fortunately, the next iOS 11 update is just around the corner.
iOS 11.2.6 Jailbreak
Jailbreak users should avoid the iOS 11.2.6 update for now.
iOS 11 update is jailbroken for devices running iOS 11.0, iOS 11.0.1, iOS 11.0.2, iOS 11.0.3, iOS 11.1, iOS 11.1.1 or iOS 11.1.2. The LiberiOS jailbreak is for advanced users only and does not currently include Cydia.
There is no working jailbreak for iOS 11.2, iOS 11.2.1, iOS 11.2.2, iOS 11.2.5 or iOS 11.2.6 and we are not sure when it will arrive.

what’s next
The next iOS 11 update will most likely be iOS 11.3.
The iOS 11.3 update is official and will bring a nice list of changes including new battery features on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, new Animojis for iPhone X, health records in the Health app and more.
Apple hasn’t confirmed an official iOS 11.3 release date, but the update is expected this spring, possibly in late March or early April.
The company recently confirmed a fourth milestone upgrade in the form of iOS 11.4. iOS 11.4 is entering beta shortly before an unknown release date. Like iOS 11.3, iOS 11.4 should offer a mix of features, improvements, fixes, and security patches.
Apple is also working on an iOS 12 update and is expected to bring new emojis and more to iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
Our first look at the successor to iOS 11 will likely arrive at WWDC 2018 in June. The first iOS 12 beta is expected shortly after the company’s June 4 keynote.
