Today we have several mods and tools for consuming news through special applications. Users mostly use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc to read and watch news. They trust social networks. Browsers such as Opera, Chrome, and Microsoft Edge also offer news integration directly on their home screens. News providers are reaching more readers through social channels, which can be overwhelming at times. If you like to eat RSS feeds like others on the GT team, there are several valuable RSS Feed reader apps for iPhone.
If you’re tired of news apps with irrelevant content, it’s time to go back to the old and efficient way of reading RSS feeds. RSS is the only reliable way to display the content you want, rather than transferring control to a news-publishing site or custom application.
When you choose to fall back on RSS (or start with an account), you’ll need a news reader app to go with it. Fortunately, there are many amazing RSS readers on iPhone. But how do you find the right one? We’ve narrowed it down to the top five options below.
1. swear
Feedly is primarily an RSS service that offers an app and other functions for a better mobile device experience. As for the UI, the app feels stuck between the future and the past. It has a nice sub bar, but also uses the hamburger menu.
Feedly offers three main services to be integrated into the app. You can add Pocket, Instapaper, and Evernote accounts for better integration. You can also use OneNote to save articles and integrate your Twitter feed using Feedly Pro.
You can swipe left/right to switch between articles in Feedly. If a post has a Read More button, it will use the Safari browser to load the webpage. You can use the built-in Read Later service or choose the integration of the application to save articles.
Feedly allows you to create different boards to organize saved articles. You can view it as an advanced Pocket application. Feedly also offers Google Keyword alerts, IFTTT integration, the ability to use notes and highlighter, and more. Of course it’s all part of the Feedly Pro version.
Feedly works as a subscription service. Feedly Pro and Pro+ plans are priced at $8 and $16 per month, respectively.
2. Reeder 4
I can describe the Reeder 4 in one word – minimal. Almost every menu, option, and even buttons are designed to keep the interface as simple as possible. The animations are more fluid than Feedly and feel like you’re scrolling through the physical pages of the book when you move from one post to the next.
Reeder has left no stone unturned when it comes to services. You can connect a number of services like RSS, Instapaper, Pocket, Feedbin, Feedly, FeedHQ, NewsBlur, Inroreader and even self-hosted services like FreshRDD, Reader, Fever and more. Tap the + icon and add the account to Reeder 4.
In Reeder 4 you can tap on Reading mode and it will skip the Read More button and you can read the whole article without leaving the interface.
Reeder 4 is currently a free app as the developers have released a new Reeder 5 app with iOS 14 widget support and a few more functions.
3. Reader
Next on our list of awesome RSS readers is Inoreader. One of the most feature-rich RSS readers on this list, Inoreader provides users with a vibrant community of content curators.
Users can easily discover their next favorite content with Inoreader’s discovery mode, user-created subscription packages or streaming channels. The best thing about this app is that it lets you watch news based on specific keyboards.
While browsing the web, if you find something worth reading, you can save it to read later. RSS reader keeps a tab of what you read. As a result, it only shows unread items. You can also upgrade to the premium version of the app to unlock features like offline reading, active search, and more.
4. Hot Broadcasts
Similar to Reeder 4, Fiery Feeds adopts iOS design guidelines. The app has a bottom toolbar for quick actions that supports fluid animations and navigation gestures.
Fiery Feeds will skip the read more button and load the full article text even if the feed is truncated. You also have access to Smart Views that automatically filter out high and low frequency broadcasts. Also, this adds to the feed management features and downloads the full text of the selected feeds offline.
My favorite function is the custom theme options. However, it is part of the Premium version, which costs $10 per year.
5. Unread
If you prioritize the reading experience above all else, go with Unread. The app supports popular RSS services like Feedly, Feedbin, Inoreader, NewsBlur and Feed Wrangler.
Like Reeder and Fiery Feeds, Unread relies on gestures for navigation. When you tap an article, all you see is text and images. Swipe right to go back, swipe left for options. From there you can switch to another theme or share the article with another app.
The free version is limited to 50 unread articles per day. You can pay $10 to unlock more functions and a theme engine.
