This has probably happened to you too, especially if your account is linked to a professional YouTube account: your exciting puppy videos end up on your supervisor’s YouTube homepage… when you choose to keep your passion a secret. However, none of this would have happened if you had considered returning to your personal account and in any case, if you had at least activated the incognito mode or private browsing mode.
A new mode that can only be activated in the Android version of the YouTube app that allows you to suspend the recording of call history and video playback.
YouTube Incognito mode: how to watch videos without history on Android?
To enable incognito mode on Android:
- Tap your profile picture in the top right
- To touch enable incognito mode
- Search and watch videos as normal
By observing the location where your profile picture is normally located, you confirm that incognito mode is enabled – for this it is replaced by the “Incognito” logo.
Exiting incognito mode is just as easy:
- Tap the hidden logo in the top right
- To touch Turn off private browsing mode
Your searches and videos you watch are then saved back to your history. Do you find this feature useful? Have you ever blushed because of accidental searches on YouTube’s homepage? Share your feedback and anecdotes in the comments to this article!
