with the launch Windows 10and before that with Windows 8, Microsoft wanted to make the operating system. one of the fastest in terms of starting. After the machine is turned on, you can access the Desktop in less than ten seconds, in certain major configurations and depending on the programs that run as soon as Windows 10 starts. If we take the advantage implied by this reduced start-up time up front, there is still a downside: the system tends to prevent you from accessing the computer’s UEFI or BIOS settings. In this case, you can determine the nerve center of their computer, the place where it makes it possible to manage the hardware components of the PC, the starting order of peripherals, etc. It is not very practical for those who want to configure it. Here’s how to fix the problem and access the computer’s BIOS or UEFI.
Access UEFI from Windows 10
To ensure everyone has access to the computer’s UEFI settings, Microsoft has implemented a small enough option within the operating system. Depending on the age of your hardware configuration this may be missing. In that case, go to the second part of this article. Otherwise, you need to:
- Press button from Windows 10 To start and click the icon Settings (you’ll find it easily, it’s a gear wheel).
- Then go to the function Update and security.
- In the left pane, navigate to: To get better.
- from the chapter Advanced startuppress button reboot now.
- then click RepairsThen Advanced options.
- you should see an option labeled Change UEFI firmware settings. Click on it. If this is not the case as previously stated, see the second part of this article.
- After clicking the button restartyou must have access Your motherboard’s UEFI settings. Among other things, you have the ability to change the order of the drives, which is an important option if you want to boot on a USB key or an optical disc.
Access BIOS or UEFI without going through Windows 10
The second solution, which provides access to UEFI or Bios parameters, is much more classic. On the other hand, since Windows 10 starts so fast, you may have to try several times for this method to work:
- Press one of the following keys several times while starting the computer: [F1], [F2], [F8], [F10] Where [Suppr], it all depends on your motherboard manufacturer. In very old models it is even necessary to press the keys at the same time. [CTRL] + [ALT] + [ESC]. You must do this necessarily “before” the Windows installation logo appears, otherwise it will be too late and the machine will have to reboot.
2. From then on, you can access all your BIOS or UEFI settings. Note that some changes can cause the PC to malfunction if they are poorly controlled. The good news is that it is possible to restore the default configuration at any time by always accessing the BIOS or UEFI.
