If you need an HDMI cable for your home entertainment setup, here are some cheap HDMI cables that still work great.
While it’s a crucial accessory needed for everything to work properly, many products don’t come with HDMI cables in the box, but it’s likely that many companies believe buyers already have an HDMI cable to use. leave it out of the box, they will save money in the long run.
This is a sensible strategy, especially since almost all set-top boxes use HDMI and every home is likely to have an HDMI cable already. However, it’s unlikely that most households have extra cables just sitting around.
It’s almost like the printer industry: companies are purposely leaving HDMI cable out for you to spend more money on, and they’re big moneymakers, as HDMI cables have had one of the biggest price hikes in the consumer electronics industry.
It’s pretty frustrating when you buy a new set-top box and it doesn’t include an HDMI cable, and the latest Apple TV is extremely guilty of it, especially since HDMI is the only way to connect it to your TV. It’s almost like not including the power cord – it makes no sense.
In any case, if you need an HDMI cable, you can buy good ones here quite cheaply.
Amazon
There’s a lot of variety on Amazon, and you can buy all kinds of HDMI cables at many different price points, but I’d like to specifically refer to AmazonBasics, a branch of Amazon that makes its own HDMI cables.
You can get an AmazonBasics HDMI cable for as low as $5, and this will do the trick just fine. you dont need this stupid expensive $170 HDMI cableand even if it’s better overall, it’s probably overkill for just about everyone.
even $19 Apple’s own HDMI cable it is unnecessarily expensive. Honestly, you shouldn’t be paying more than $10 for a basic HDMI cable unless you’re buying an extra-long 10-foot cable to place in your living room, which might be a little more expensive, but stay tuned otherwise. far from anything more expensive.
One price
What was once thought of as a manufacturer of mediocre products is now seen as a powerhouse of low-priced quality products.
MonoPrice make just about anything, including computer monitors and even headphones, but they’re best known for their cables and other small accessories.
HDMI cables start at $2.49 each and big selection to choose from. There are even HDMI cables that you can get 100 feet long for commercial use. However, you will most likely want a shorter cable for your living room setup.
eBay
You can find some good deals on eBay, but you have to be careful because mostly there are loads of junk listed on eBay.
But you can if you’re careful. find an HDMI cable pretty cheap. You should also pay attention to where the item is shipped from, as you will see many listings from China. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but if you buy something from China it will take a few weeks to arrive, whereas if you ordered it within the US it will only take a few days to arrive at your doorstep.
I would say eBay is a last resort though, as you can usually find what you’re looking for on Amazon or MonoPrice. Unless they’re on sale once a year, it’s a good idea to stay away from big box retailers as they usually have a big mark on HDMI cables.
