WhatsApp recently got a fingerprint lock option. It is possible that the application will ask for your fingerprint after a certain period of time. Locking also hides notifications to prevent prying eyes from reading them. But you also need to enable this option.
WhatsApp supports fingerprint unlock on Android just like iPhone. Previously, it was possible to set up a six-digit code or even two-factor authentication to protect your conversations. This new process, which is simpler and faster, makes it possible to strengthen the security of the application, while preventing prying eyes from falling into your conversations.
Actually, by enabling fingerprint lock, you can choose to hide the content of notifications as well. This prevents anyone with access to your smartphone from seeing a portion of received messages in the notification bar or lock screen, even for a few seconds.
How to enable fingerprint unlock on WhatsApp
However, incoming calls are not barred. This feature has been known to WhatsApp users on iPhone for months. Second, on compatible models, it can even use Face ID to make unlocking faster and more reliable. - 3. Select the time to lock the smartphone

Finally, note that once the app is locked with fingerprints, it’s still possible to answer incoming calls without unlocking the app first. On Android, the feature is only accessible on devices with system version 6.0 or higher.
For iPhone users, the procedure is very similar, just go to: Account > Privacy > Screen Lock. enable Use Touch ID Where Use Face ID.
