Verizon Galaxy Nexus Gets Easy Rooting and Unlocking Tool

So, you are the proud new owner of Verizon’s Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and now that you have it, you may want to consider unlocking and rooting it. If that’s the case, you’ve come to the right place. A developer named WugFresh has developed a pretty painless way to kill them both with a single stone using a simple unlock/root tool that also lets you root and relock your device if you want.

Unfortunately, if you have a Mac, you won’t be able to use this method. As of now, this is for Windows users only, so if you’re not on a Microsoft-backed machine, you’re out of luck.

If you’re using Windows and want to use this tool, here’s what you need to do.

First, you’ll want to get the WugFresh tool, which you can find here. Now, keep that in mind before you go any further. Unlocking the bootloader. It will also void the warranty.

If all is well and stylish, now you will want to follow these instructions:

*Windows only.

1. Install the program by double-clicking the GnexRootToolkit.sfx.exe file.

2. First use the Drivers + SDK option to install and configure the required components on your system.
3. Click “Unlock + Root” or “Unroot + OEM lock” depending on what you want to do.

4. Note that the “Unroot + OEM unlock” procedure can also be used to go back to stock without relocking.

If done right, you should now have an unlocked bootloader to go with your rooted Galaxy Nexus.

For those who don’t know what this means, it means you now have full control over your device. Now you can customize your phone to your heart’s content.
