Tutorial: How to install Android 4.4.1 on Nexus 4, 5 7 LTE and 10

The update mentioned yesterday by The Verge Android 4.4.1 KitKat just started distribution on Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 LTE and Nexus 10 only in the United States. Prerequisites

  • download Java and Android SDKs
  • perform full backup from your mobile device using our tutorial
  • Activate the mod USB debugging In Settings menu > Developer options
  • Download Android 4.4.1 KitKat firmware for Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 LTE or Nexus 10

Installing ROMs

  • Open SDK on your computer
  • Copy the downloaded firmware to the folder Platform-Tools Rename after SDK update.zip
  • Connect your Nexus terminal to your computer
  • Position yourself in the folder using your mouse, press uppercase letter on your keyboard, a right click then choose “Open a command window here”
  • type the command adb-device. Your device is then detected by the SDK
  • Then type restart adb bootloader
  • Your terminal is restarting
  • On your Nexus device Recovery confirm using volume control keys then Power key
  • As soon as your device displays an exclamation mark, simultaneously press one of the two volume control keys + Power key
  • choose apply update from adb verify using volume keys then Power
  • In the SDK command window, type adb sideload
  • choose reboot system now restart
