The Google Nexus 7 Tablet works great and runs smoothly, but like any computer it can.
In such a case, Google created a safe mode for the Jelly Bean operating system for testing and troubleshooting. It is very easy to access and use.
Normally, any Android 4.1 Jelly Bean device like Google Nexus 7 Tablet or Galaxy Nexus phone is powered off by pressing and holding the power button until the following menu appears on the screen.
Safe Mode runs the operating system in a custom mode that uses only the base Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS without running any widgets on the Google Nexus 7 Tablet or other devices. It gives the user only the basics, with no working extras and plugins. Apps will continue to appear, including those placed on the home screen. Apps run and run in this mode. A user’s live wallpaper will still appear.
How to Run Google Nexus 7 Tablet in Safe Mode
Here is how to access Safe Mode on Google Nexus 7 Tablet. Press and hold the power button as to turn off the tablet or phone. When the shutdown menu appears, press and hold the item and the following box appears on the screen.
The message is:
Restart in safe mode.
Do you want to restart in safe mode? This will disable any third party apps you have installed. They are restored when you reboot.

Not all apps will work. I tried running the new OnLive app now available on the Google Nexus 7 Tablet and it crashed the system and opened all the widgets I had placed on my home screen, forcing it to go back to normal mode. Also, the Google Reader application failed to run, so most people will not want to run their Jelly Bean device in Safe Mode all the time. Great for some special uses.
