After announcing app sharing via Nearby Share from the Google Play Store last December, Google has started rolling out the feature on Android devices. In this article, we’ll take a look at how you can use this feature to seamlessly send apps between devices.
Send and Receive Apps via Share with Nearby
Share with Nearby from Play Store only works for apps you installed from Google Play. Apps you sideloaded from other sources won’t show up here. Also, the feature only shares the app, not the data files. So, if you plan to transfer games, you can use one of the other file transfer apps or Share with Nearby outside of the Play Store to do so.
Steps to Transfer Apps from Play Store
1. Open Google Play Store, tap the hamburger menu in the upper left corner and Select ‘My apps & games’.
2nd. Switch to the Share tab From the My apps and games section. From here, Tap Send and allow the necessary permissions if you haven’t already. If you don’t see the Share tab, make sure your Google Play Store app is updated to the latest version. You can check for updates at Settings -> Play Store version.
3. Select the app (or apps) you want to share from the list of apps and tap the Send button to start the sharing process. Open the Share tab on the recipient’s phone and press ‘Get’ to get these apps. Press Receive and the device will appear on the receiver selection page.
4. Shortly after tapping the receiver’s device name, you will see a pairing code on both phones. If the code matches, tap on receive from receiver’s device To confirm the application transfer
5. The sharing process starts now. You can install the new application using the Install button. If you bought more than one application, you can use the ‘Install All’ button to install them all.
6. You can send more apps using the ‘Send more apps’ button. After you finish sharing apps, tap the Disconnect button to end the transfer.

This is how you can use send and receive apps from Play Store. The only downside to the feature is that it doesn’t fetch data files, but it should come in handy if you’re looking for a way to quickly transfer core apps from one device to another.
