Instagram has announced Remix, a TikTok Duet-like feature that allows users to create a new Reels video alongside the existing one. While the remix is generally useful for harmonizing or parodying existing short videos, you can also pull off some pretty creative and funny reactions. If you’re wondering how to use the Instagram Reels Remix feature, read till the end to learn all about it.
Remix Reels on Instagram
According to Instagram, Remix is enabled by default only for new Reels. As a result, if you want other creators to re-edit your old content, you’ll have to manually enable re-editing for old videos. In the meantime, let’s move on to the steps to reshuffle Reels.
Remix Instagram reels
one. Open an Instagram Reels video From the Reels tab or from a user’s profile. Tap the vertical three-dot menu in the upper right corner and Select ‘Remix This Reel’ from the list of options that appear.
2. Now you can save response video or tap the file picker in the lower left corner to use a pre-recorded video. You have effects, timer, retouching and other tools that you can use while recording video.
3. You can use Instagram’s toolkit to edit your reels the way you want. For example, you can tap the microphone button to record a quick voiceover.
4. When you’re done with all the edits, tap the ‘Next’ button and share the post after typing a caption and selecting the cover image.
Enable Reshuffle for Legacy Reels
As mentioned earlier, you cannot remix old videos by default. You will not see the ‘Remix This Reel’ option as it is missing from these videos. So you have to enable it manually before you or others can remix it. To do this, follow these steps:
one. Open an old Reel and tap the vertical ellipsis menu available in the lower right corner. From here, Tap on Enable Remix, and that’s it. You have now allowed others to re-edit your old video.
Disable Instagram Reels Remix
If you don’t want others to rearrange your Instagram Reels, you can disable the feature. You can disable the remix for specific videos or disable the feature completely for all your videos. Check out the steps for both options below.
Disable Remix for Individual Reels
1. Open a Reel video, tap the vertical ellipsis menu and Tap the ‘Disable Remixing’ button.
2. Instagram will now show you a warning before disabling the remix feature. Tap on ‘Disable’ To confirm the change

1. You can completely disable re-editing for all your videos in Settings. Open Settings in the Instagram app and go to privacy.
