Predictive Emoji Keyboard Not Working on iOS 13? Here’s the Fix

If texting has become more fun than ever, emojis probably played an important role in coloring the whole thing. Whether it’s the funny face filled with tears of joy, the winking face with the tongue, or the zippered mouth, we have all kinds of emojis to communicate – thanks to tons of emoji keyboards. To further enhance the conversation using these cool animated images, iOS offers real-time emoji suggestions for specific words (e.g. love, heart, cool and more) so you can express the whole message seamlessly. Unfortunately; For some iPhone and iPad users, predictive emoji keyboard doesn’t work on iOS 13. If the issue caused the predictive emoji keyboard to go crazy on your iOS device as well, give these possible solutions a shot as they might save you.

Fix Predictive Emoji Keyboard Not Working on iPhone and iPad

What tricks do you think you might need to try to get rid of this problem? Let’s get him out of the way first!

So, What is the Solution?

To eliminate random errors, we will first give a fresh start to the predictive emoji keyboard. In most cases, it can fix the problem. If that fails, we restart the keyboard dictionary, deleting all saved custom words. From what I’ve experienced, it does the trick quite reliably. Apart from these two solutions, there are several reliable troubleshooters that can come into the picture like last resorts. Now that you know what it is, let’s get to work, shall we?

Restart Predictive Keyboard

When the predictive keyboard doesn’t seem to be working as expected, the first trick I always try to get rid of the problem is to reboot it. And by reboot I mean toggling the predictive switch off/on. Therefore, this time, too, I will rely on this highly reliable troubleshooter. To do this, go to: Settings app -> General -> Keyboard. Now, turn off the switch predictive. Then restart your iPhone. After that go back to the keyboard setting and then predictive change.

Next, open the Messages app and write a message. Now when you type certain words (i.e. happy, sad, cool, heart, love) related emoji suggestions will appear right above the keyboard. Simply choose and you are ready to go.

Note:

  • Note that predictive emojis do not support some apps like Notes, Mail, and more.
  • If the problem persists, open the Messages app and tap the little emoji icon. Then send loads of emoji to your friend. After that, force quit the app and start it again. Next, open a conversation and start typing a message. The predictive emoji keyboard should work now.

Reset Keyboard Dictionary

Sometimes resetting the keyboard dictionary to its factory defaults not only speeds up the keyboard but also fixes some various glitches that tend to sneak in once in a while. So, if the first trick didn’t fix the predictive emoji keyboard issue on your iOS 13 device, try that too. Note that it will delete all the special words you type on the keyboard.

Open Settings app -> General -> Reset. Now, tap on Reset Keyboard Dictionary Select and confirm.

Remove/Add Emoji Keyboard

No progress yet? Don’t bother as we still have a few tricks to try. Now we will remove and re-add the emoji keyboard. As many iOS users have had success with this hack, I hope it clicks in your favor too. Start Settings app -> General -> Keyboard -> Keyboards -> Edit. Now, tap on red button on the left emoji keyboard and then hit To delete button. Finally, tap on Completed to finish. Then force quit the Settings app.

Update iOS on Your iPhone and iPad

If the problem hasn’t been fixed yet, I think a hidden bug could very well be flawed. Given how buggy and unstable iOS 13 is due to a host of issues with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and even AirDrop, it wouldn’t be wrong to blame it on a miscellaneous bug. And if that’s the scenario, your best bet to overcome the problem is to update the software on your device. simply go to: Settings app -> General -> Software Update then do your thing.
