To do this you will need to modify the build.prop of the smartphone. build.prop is the ID card of the device. It has some system information and some settings. For OnePlus 3, there is a line showing the limitation of apps running in the background, then it is necessary to change this line. For these few methods, you can use apps or directly from file explorer if you are root.
After finding the line ro . system . fw . bg_apps_limit = 20, change 20 to 42, after saving the change and then restarting your smartphone. And now you’ve nearly doubled the number of apps that can stay open.

With this change you will be able to run a lot more apps in the background, but keep in mind that this may affect your battery life because if OnePlus has chosen this limitation it is to save the latter.
