Play time. This quick guide will show NFL fans how to watch the big game, the Super Bowl, live on Android. CBS is hosting the biggest game of the year and making it as ready as possible for fans to enjoy.
The NFL itself for the first time earlier this month published a statement and “how-to” to watch NFL games and playoffs on mobile, but with more details for those trying to catch the last game of the year, we’re taking it a step further.
We don’t know if the Broncos will pick up a win and leave Manning at the top or if the Panthers will continue their impressive dominance. What we do know is how Android users can stream the Super Bowl live on their Android device.
Official CBS Sports app for Android (and iPhone) last month got an update This indicates that it will live stream the AFC Championship game and Super Bowl 50 for all Android tablets. This is for tablets only, as smartphones are unfortunately not included. It also works on iPhone.
All of the NFL Playoff games were available for live streaming through a wide variety of apps, and the best of them all is Verizon’s NFL Mobile. However, this is only available to Verizon customers. The deal also means that no smartphone will be able to stream games unless it’s on Verizon Wireless. So these other apps are for tablets only.
Verizon has a special feature for smartphones. That said, you can catch the Super Bowl on a tablet, laptop, and more. For all those die-hard fans or Carolina Panther hopefuls, we’ve got some details, too. Let’s start.
CBS updated the app again last week to remind all mobile users that Super Bowl 50 is only available from the CBS Sports app. Go download now.
All of this information was provided by the NFL, and it’s one of the first times the giant company has been this helpful in capturing all the games. We’ve detailed all this information with more information in the past and used the how-to download links below.
Your best bet is to download the official apps for the above or each network on your Android smartphone or tablet or, if available, XBox or Android TV devices. Here are a few of the download links on the Google Play Store for Android users
Cable Applications
Cable providers often also have their own apps with which users can stream most channels to Android tablets. Like Cox’s Contour, it allows subscribers to watch 100s of channels they find on a tablet, anywhere, at home. Contour doesn’t work on smartphones, but all you need is a WiFi connection (or tether from your phone) and a tablet to enjoy games on Fox, CBS, ESPN and more. This is another way to watch Super Bowl 50.
The same type of option is available from many other cable providers. Some have restrictions and limitations, a few allow smartphones, so try which provider you have and see which works best. Personally, I just use the apps listed above and sign in to my cable provider within the app.
These are just a few of the many cable providers with some pretty great apps to enjoy live TV on Android smartphones and tablets. Users can watch more than sports with these apps, but that’s all about the NFL Super Bowl.
Again, Super Bowl 50 is broadcast on CBS in various forms across all platforms. It also works with Google Chromecast, so cast to your big screen TV for the best possible experience.
