How to Watch NFL Football Live on Android

The 2016-17 NFL season is in full swing, Brady is back and injuries are on the rise. This guide explains how to watch NFL Football live on Android smartphones and tablets. Use one of the many different options below to catch the action wherever you are.

The season started off quite exciting, with many teams not being beaten unexpectedly or the rookies playing strong. Like the Vikings without Teddy or the Eagles Carson Wentz who looks like a veteran out the door. Similar to Dak Prescott.

Options are still somewhat limited when it comes to watching NFL football live on mobile, but the past two years have really improved. Most will cost money, or at least a subscription to a cable provider, but will allow users to enjoy NFL games on smartphones and tablets.

How to Watch NFL Live on Android

There is a wide variety of options to watch football this year and most of them have been around for a long time but have changed a bit. Of course having DirecTV and Sunday Ticket helps and their Android app is hereand above we looked at how to get the Sunday Pass even without DirecTV.

For those who want a Sunday Ticket but don’t have DirecTV, DirecTV has three different packages. From $99 for college students and $249 for the full year on smartphones, tablets and computers using the To Go package. Sign up, download the app and enjoy almost any game you want.

However, if you are a DirecTV subscriber and have NFL Sunday Ticket, you will need the Sunday Ticket MAX package to stream the games to mobile devices. The regular package is for your TV, while the Max subscription unlocks the mobile app.

The Sunday Pass remains the best way to enjoy the NFL season at home or on mobile, but it’s also the most expensive. AT&T now owns DirecTV and has some nice incentives for those combining both home TV and mobile plans. Watching DirecTV with or without an unlimited data plan.

NFL Mobile

Another solid option for those using the nation’s largest network is NFL Mobile with Verizon Wireless. For just a few dollars a month, most Thursday, Sunday, and Monday night games are playable on smartphones and select tablets. NFL Mobile will display all available Live games and has a redesigned, easy-to-use “Watch Now” button below each game.

NFL Mobile has live video, highlights, analysis, team tracking, fantasy alerts, and live video of the show “Fantasy Live” as the season continues. The app is still great for those who aren’t on Verizon because of all its content, unless you’re a Verizon customer, you won’t be able to get real-time live streaming. This really needs to be available from all carriers, but that will never happen.

Speaking of Thursday Night Football, some of it will be streamed live on Twitter this year. So just set it up and watch it that way.

The NBC Sports Live Extra app streams all Sunday night NFL games live on your iOS, Android, and PC if you want to catch the games that way. All Sunday night NBC games must be streamed live through this app. I didn’t even need to log into my Cox account as some require, but I did it anyway to get full access just in case. You will need to sign in to your cable provider account at some point to use it.

hanger tv

Over the past year, Sling TV has burst onto the scene as the first truly online TV streaming service worth using. Provided by Dish Network. Sling has been lauded over and over for being a $20-a-month TV service, just enough to make it great. Basically, it’s a low monthly price and no-contract service that cuts out hundreds of channels that no one else uses and sticks to the 30-40 channels you like.

Recently Sling TV announced The regular “Sports Extras Pack” add-on now has NFL Network and NFL RedZone, giving us tons of Football as add-ons for just $5 a month. Given that Fox and ESPN are already in the basic package, for under $30 a month Sling TV is a great option for Football fans.

I’ve been using it for over a year now and it has replaced my cable TV service. Here’s our full review, if not some of the more notable recent updates. It now allows simultaneous streaming to multiple devices and has tons of channels. I highly recommend Sling TV to everyone and of course Football fans. You may not be able to watch the Thursday Twitter games, but the restrictions are frustrating.

Fox Sports Go

Most of the cable we mentioned above require a subscription, and this is especially true for Fox Sports Go. Supports most major TV providers. This is called the paywall, where you have to log in and verify your cable subscription to gain access. Fox Go doesn’t work on smartphones, but for iOS, Android tablets, Kindle, Windows Tablets and more, the app will stream Sunday games played on Fox.

fox

Fox Sports Go streams most sports live to smartphones, but with NFL restrictions you only get them on your Android tablet. It also gives viewers access to Nascar, MLB and other sports. Considering I’m a Cox cable customer, this will be my favorite app for most of the 2015 season.

NFL Game Pass

The NFL realizes that mobile is a huge market and is slow to integrate more options for mobile users. In previous years there was a Pre-Season Pass for tablets, a regular Game Pass, and Rewind, but for 2016 everything is packed into one package.

it’s called NFL Game Pass $99.99 and good until July 2017. This gives users access to live streaming games throughout the entire season (except those broadcast locally in your area) and much more. Game Pass will stream all regular season, Playoff, and Super Bowl games after they air, rather than live. While this is included in our summary, you will not be watching any match as it is. Only after the whistle blows and the game is over.

watchESPN

ESPN doesn’t usually broadcast NFL games, but the WatchESPN Android app is a great option as it often shows games from other channels and this will include some NFL football games during the 2016 season. Not to mention that tons of NCAA College football games will be broadcast. You must subscribe to one of the many accepted cable providers. Sign in to your cable account at WatchESPN and stream games live to your smartphone or tablet.

To watch

The app works great and supports Google Chromecast, meaning users can stream the game at home to an HDTV or larger screen. I will be using this to watch BYU game all year round during College football season.

sling box

Slingbox and Slingplayer are another option for those who have it. A device that connects to a user’s TV service at home, work or anywhere with an internet connection and then streams it over Slingbox servers. This mobile application It’s $15, but if you already have this setup, you can stream any NFL game to any mobile device or browser with ease. Just turn on any channel with a game you want to enjoy and stream it to your device of choice over your home TV and the internet.

This option isn’t cheap, but Slingbox is popular because it works well. This won’t give you all the games, but anything you can enjoy at home can be streamed to your device of choice.

Cable Applications

Finally, there are applications offered by the cable companies themselves. Like Cox’s Contour, which lets subscribers watch 100s of channels they watch at home on a tablet. Contour doesn’t work on smartphones, but all you need is a WiFi connection (or tether from your phone) and a tablet to enjoy games on Fox, CBS, ESPN and more.

The same type of option is available from many other cable providers. Some have restrictions and limitations, some allow smartphones, but give them a try and see what works best for you.

These are just a few of the many cable tests that offer some pretty great apps to enjoy live TV on Android smartphones and tablets. These apps offer tons of live TV, not just sports, of course that’s what we’re focusing on here today.

Our first recommendation would be to use the Sunday Pass. If you’re not a DirecTV subscriber, you can still get it. Otherwise, try your cable provider app, NFL Mobile, and everything else mentioned above. Remember, blackout restrictions may apply in many situations. May the best team win.
