How to View Saved Passwords in Chrome on Android

Google Chrome on Android is a very capable browser, but always has fewer features than on the desktop. While some of the missing features can be attributed to the system restrictions of the mobile nature of the Android operating system and the hardware it runs on, some of the missing features should have been in Chrome from the very beginning. One such missing feature is the ability to see saved passwords in Chrome. This feature was available on desktop from the very beginning, but not on Android. With build number 62 (Chrome 62) on Android, the browser now lets you see all your saved passwords. This feature is really useful because you can easily copy and paste your saved passwords without the hassle of remembering them. So, if this is important to you, here is how to view saved Passwords in Chrome on Android:

Before we get started, let’s clear up some constraints. First, the method works in Chrome 62, so you’ll need to update your app if you’re on a previous build. You can also try it on. Chrome Beta browser, if the update is not available on your device or in your region. Also, you can view your saved password only if your device has some kind of screen lock security feature. This is done to ensure that unauthorized people cannot see your passwords. Finally, you must be signed in to your Chrome browser with your Gmail account for this to work. Okay, now that we know it all, let’s get started.

Note: I am using Chrome Beta for this tutorial as the Chrome 62 update is not available for me at the time of writing this article.

1. The process is very simple, first start the Chrome browser and then tap the 3-dot buttons menu in the top right corner. Now, tap on “Settings”.

2. Here, Tap on “Save passwords” option. Now you can see all saved accounts and passwords linked to your account in your browser. Tap the account whose password you want to see.

If you want to see your password, tap the eye button then authenticate with your screen lock password. If you don’t want to see the password and just copy it, tap the copy button instead of the eye button. However, in both cases you will need to authenticate. Since mine is locked with a fingerprint, I will authenticate using this.

See saved password in chrom in android step 3 Once you authenticate, you will be able to see your save password. I won’t show you that screen for obvious reasons, but you can try it yourself. Similarly, you can copy or view all saved passwords in your Chrome browser.
