This is how you can use the new Snapchat Snap Map feature to share your location with your friends and see what’s happening at events, celebrations, sports games, and popular venues. We’ll also share how to manage who can see your Snapchat location.
You can even use it to share a Snap to “Our Story” to potentially appear in a story for that event or location.
You need to enable sharing your location, and you can change who you share your location with, except for people you work with, your ex, or people you don’t want to know your location with. Your Snapchat Bitmoji will appear on the map if you have it set up.
How to Use Snapchat’s Snap Map
Here’s how to use Snap Map inside Snapchat after updating to the latest version. The feature is easy to use, but basically hidden until you know how to get there.
- Open Snapchat.
- Quickly pinch your fingers together on the screen.
- This opens the Snap Map.
- Look at the entry and then hit the next button.
- Select the sharing option you want and tap Next.
- Tap Finish after you see the story notification.
Now that you have set it up, you will see Snap Map on your screen. You can pinch to zoom in or out, and drag to see events, locations, and friends if they’re sharing it with you.
Tap a location or a friend to see the Snapchat they’ve posted to their Stories, or tap Our Story for an event or location.
How to share your Snapchat location and manage who can see it.
If you tap on a location, you’ll see the Story for that place. You should start to see friends show up soon.
You can change your location sharing options at any time. Go to Map mode and then tap the Settings Gear with a location marker on it. It’s in the upper-right corner of your screen.
You can change these options at any time. Many users will want to start small by sharing with a small group, especially as the feature rolls out. Note that your friends must select the service before you can see them on the map.
