Snapchat may be going downhill in popularity, but there’s no denying the fact that the service has the best camera lenses or face filters of any app. Snapchat filters not only look good, but each filter responds uniquely to the user’s facial reaction, making them fun to use. Until now, Snapchat camera lenses were only available on Android and iPhones through the Snapchat app, but now you can even use the lenses on your Mac and Windows machines. In this article, we’ll show you how you can use Snapchat’s new camera lens app on your Mac and Windows devices:
Using Snapchat Camera Lenses on Mac and Windows
To use Snapchat’s camera lenses on our desktop (both Mac and Windows), we’ll take the help of Snapchat’s new Snap Camera app, which the company quietly released a few days ago. The best part about this Snap Camera app is that it can integrate directly with various services allowing you to use these lenses in many places. For example, currently, You can use Snapchat’s camera lenses while streaming games on Twitch or video calling friends.
While using my 2016 MacBook Pro to showcase this feature, note that you can use it on any desktop that meets the following hardware requirements:
- OS: Windows 10 (64-bit); macOS 10.11+
- Equipment: Minimum Intel Core i3 2.5 GHz or AMD Phenom II 2.6 GHz with 4GB RAM; Intel HD Graphics 4000 / Nvidia GeForce 710 / AMD Radeon HD 6450; Screen resolution of 1280×768 or higher.
That said, let’s see how you can use this feature on your desktop:
Snapchat Camera Lens Step-by-Step Guide

2. On the next page, accept the company’s privacy policy, enter your email id and then click the Download button for your operating system. Since I’m using a Mac, I’ll click the “Download for Mac” button.
3. Now only double click the setup file and follow the instructions To install the application on your device
4. Once installed, You can launch the app and play around with different lenses to see which one you want to use.. I use the PUBG lens as this is what is trending these days.
Using Snap Lenses in Third-Party Apps
Using Snap Camera Lenses, while really good in the app itself, serves no purpose. If you really want to use these lensesYou will need to integrate Snap Lenses with third party apps like OBS, Twitch or Skype. For example, you can use a Snap Lens when video calling on Skype or live streaming on Twitch. This is pretty easy to configure and I’ll show you how to do it using Skype as an example.
- First, launch the Snap Camera app and select the lens you want to use. Here we will use the same PUBG lens. Now, Launch the Skype app and open its settings.
- In the settings panel, Click on the Audio and Video section and then click the dropdown menu at the top right.
3. Here, from the drop-down menu, Choose Snap camera instead of FaceTime camera option.
4. You will see when you do this Skype now uses the Snap Lens you set in the Snap Camera app.
