If you are bored trying to scan your eyes or reach the fingerprint scanner, we recommend using Smart Lock. Below we go over what you need to know and how to use Smart Lock on the Galaxy S8.
How to Use Smart Lock on Galaxy S8
Located in Smart Lock Lock screen and security Smart Lock in the Settings menu gives you several options for quick device access: Body detection, Trusted places, Trusted devices and Trusted voice.
From here four modes are listed, click on one to get started. Here I selected Trusted devices and then Bluetooth, so it doesn’t need to be unlocked when connected to my Galaxy S8 music system or next to a smartwatch. Smart Lock works with any NFC or Bluetooth device.
Now the Galaxy S8 will stay unlocked when connected and near that device. If lost or stolen and disconnected, it instantly locks itself.

Set your home as a safe place and unlock it only once when you are at home. As soon as you leave a password, pin or fingerprint lock screen security method will be required. This uses GPS, WiFi and Google Maps for an accurate location reading.
Galaxy S8 owners can also set a reliable sound to unlock quickly. To try this, enable “Trusted voice” in the Smart Lock menu, then follow the prompts to train your voice to recognize your own voice. Now just say “Ok Google” and the Galaxy S8 will instantly unlock and bypass the lock screen.
final thoughts
Is Smart Lock worth using? Exactly. It’s extremely easy to set up, convenient and reduces how often users need to use a fingerprint scanner or similar lock screen method.
Trusted Places can drain battery life because it uses GPS. The detection may not lock the device immediately, as it takes some time to register, as in the case of theft. It’s a useful feature, but not perfect.
