Find My Friends is a great app to keep track of your friends and family, but another great use is to collaborate with a group. Travel has always been difficult, especially in groups, and Find My Friends helps to simplify the chaos.
Some of the most important things the app can help with are finding group members and sending a message to the entire group. With these features, keeping a travel group organized and secure is a much easier task. Find My Friends is a free application that can be used in a few simple steps.
How to use Find My Friends feature?
The Find My Friends app is not installed by default, so the user has to go to the app store and download it. Once the app is downloaded, it can be configured as shown below.

If you have set up Find My Friends before, your friends will appear on the next screen. For those who have not set up Find My Friends before, the screen will appear blank.
It’s a good temporary option to start a group for friends you may not know very well. Temporary only allows people you add to use your location for a certain period of time.

Enter the person’s name or the email address they used with their Apple ID in the box. The name of the event and when it will end can be set on this screen.
When you’re done creating the event parameters, tap on the top right.
When the event is created, it will look like the screenshot above.
When your contact accepts the request, a notification will be sent to the user’s phone.
People who accept the request appear in the temporary window with their location. If more than one person agrees, you can send an iMessage to the entire group. Tap to view more details.
From the screen, the organizer of the event can change the name, change when the event ends, or add people to the list. You can also delete the event from this screen.
While using Find My Friends is great, the app definitely has some flaws. During CES, the Moyens I/O team used Find My Friends to help keep in touch. One of the biggest issues we had with it was having accurate location data. Sometimes the app said some parts of the team were in a place where they were recently, which is a bit annoying. Another issue is that all devices that use find my friends must be iPhones or iPads.
