How Does the Feature Work?

Before we look at how you can use the new color balance feature, let’s take a look at what the new feature is and how it works.

Basically, with the new Apple TV 4K (and with the tvOS 14.5) update, you can now use your iPhone to calibrate the colors on your TV screen. With this feature, your Apple TV uses your iPhone’s TrueDepth camera system (including the selfie camera, Face ID, and other sensors) to control your TV’s color settings. tvOS uses this information to adjust colors so that content looks better on your Apple TV.

While that’s pretty awesome and won’t work as well as professional calibration tools, it’s something that will definitely prove useful for people who want better colors on their TV without going through the hassle of a full, professional-level calibration.
