How to Use Apple Pay with Apple Watch

The Apple Watch has loads of great features for iPhone users to take advantage of, but you can also use the wearable to shop in-store. Here’s how to use Apple Pay with the Apple Watch.

Apple Pay launched a little over a year ago, and while it’s still growing, there are a ton of different stores accepting the new payment platform, including McDonald’s, Staples, Panera Bread, Starbucks, and more.

Apple’s new payment service allows iPhone users to pay wirelessly for in-store items simply by placing their iPhone near the payment terminal and placing their finger on the Touch ID fingerprint sensor to authorize payment.

It is claimed to be a faster and easier way to pay than using a credit or debit card, but there is a faster and more convenient way. What if I told you that you can pay for in-store items without taking out your wallet or iPhone? Sounds pretty great, right? You can do this with your Apple Watch.

Your Apple Watch can be used to pay for in-store items using Apple Pay. Here’s how to set it up and use it.

Set Up Apple Pay on Your Apple Watch

Whether you have a lot of settings on your Apple Watch or mirror settings on your iPhone, you have to set up Apple Pay on your watch on your own, and it’s a bit of a process, but pretty easy to do.

However, because Apple requires it as a security feature, you must enable a passcode on your Apple Watch before you can use Apple Pay.

To do this, open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone and select . Then tap and follow the instructions to set a passcode on your Apple Watch. Don’t worry about having to enter your watch every time you want to get on it, as you only need to enter it once after you put it on.

Now that you have the passcode enabled on your Apple Watch, we can set up Apple Pay on the device. If you haven’t already, go back to the Apple Watch app on your iPhone. Then scroll down and tap on it. Add a new credit or debit card from there.

You can take a photo of the card for the app to enter the information automatically, or you can enter it manually if you prefer. In both cases you will have to enter the security code manually.

Depending on who your card issuer and bank are, you may need to verify your card by receiving a text message or email to verify your identity.

Only then will the card be added to Apple Pay on your Apple Watch and can be used on your iPhone as well.

Using Apple Pay on Your Apple Watch

Now the fun starts here. Instead of taking out your iPhone and placing your finger on the Touch ID sensor to use Apple Pay, you can simply use your Apple Watch.

Basically, if you think it’s great to use Apple Pay on your iPhone, it’s even cooler to use it with your Apple Watch. All you have to do is double-click the big side button on the Apple Watch and Apple Pay will open. If you only have one credit card registered with Apple Pay, it will be ready to use. Otherwise, you can scroll through your cards and then choose one.

You can also access Apple Pay by opening the Wallet app on your Apple Watch and tapping your credit card, but the easiest way is to double-click the side button.

From there, hold your Apple Watch near the payment terminal in the check-out lane and wait for it to complete the payment. There’s no Touch ID to mess with at all. It’s really easier than using your iPhone.
