How to Add and Sync AirTag to Your iPhone
When you unpack the AirTag, the first thing you need to do is add it to your iPhone and pair it.
Stage 1: Unlock your iPhone and enable connections like Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. When done, go back to the home screen.
Step 2: Meanwhile, remove the battery tab (thin clear layer) from your AirTag. This step will complete the battery circuit and power the tracker.
Stage 3: Hold it next to your iPhone and you will see the Connect card on your phone. Once complete, you can name the tracker. For now Apple, Backpack, Bicycle, Camera etc. Allows you to choose between
Step 4: Complete the rest of the registration process to add the tracker to your Apple AirTag account. Once done, open the Find My app and the AirTag will be displayed under the Items tab. Simple, see.
Play and Find a Sound
Tap the tracker name as shown below to discover everything you can do with this Apple tracker. Clicking Play Sound provides a high-pitched sound, while tapping Find will show you where your AirTag is.
If you want to test its full strength, you can keep it in a far corner of your home and then tap Find Well to locate the tracker on your phone.
If you’re sure the tracker is nearby, you can also ask Siri to find it for you. You can simply say “Hey Siri, find my audience”. If it’s nearby, it finds it and pings it. Is not it beautiful?
Rename AirTag
The good thing about Apple AirTag is that you can assign different names to it. If you want to change the name, this is possible without any problems. You can also add an emoji to make the name more fun. Here’s how you can do it.
Stage 1: To change the name of your Apple AirTag, go to Items in the Find My app and tap the tracker’s name.
step 2: Scroll down the card until you see the Rename Item option. Tap on it and choose a new name.
If you are not satisfied with the presets, you can also add a custom name. For that, scroll down the list of names and tap on Custom.
Here is where it gets interesting. You can just add an emoji instead of an ordinary name. Fine, we would say.
How to Turn Off Product Safety Alerts
You may already know that AirTag has tracking prevention measures built into it. In the unfortunate situation, if your iPhone detects an unknown tracker moving with you, it will alert you.
However, if you share the tracker with your friends and family, it makes sense to turn this feature off to avoid unnecessary alerts and notifications.
Stage 1: Go to Me in the Find app and change the Item Security Alerts switch.
Note that you can still see the tracker’s location even if Security Alerts is turned off. You just won’t get the alerts.
The best-case scenario is to unpair it from the current iPhone and connect it to the new owner’s phone if you’re lending it for an extended period of time.
What If You Lose Your AirTag
If you have lost your AirTag, you can place it in Lost Mode. When Lost Mode is enabled, it will let you know if your phone is within range.
Stage 1: To enable Lost mode, go to tracker settings (via Items) and tap on Lost > Enable. At this point, you will be prompted to update your contact information so that the finder can contact you.
Step 2: Once found, you can safely disable Lost mode.
What If You Find a Lost AirTag
As we mentioned earlier, AirTags have built-in anti-stalking measures. One of the best things is that it makes a sound if the viewer does not detect its owner for a long time. If you find someone else’s AirTag on your evening walks (or mountain hikes), it’s easy to find the owner’s information.
Stage 1: If the owner has already entered Lost Mode, you can tap and hold your smartphone on the white side of the tracker. You will see a notification popup on your phone (both Android and iPhone).
Step 2: Tap to open the notification and you will see the notification’s owner’s information.
Note that NFC must be enabled.
How to Reset an AirTag and Pair Again with Your Other iPhone
Apple Airtag can also be paired with other iPhones. The remapping process is simple and fast, and the job is done in minutes. We would have preferred the reset mechanism to be a little different though.
Stage 1: Turn the back of your tracker until the metal backing comes off. Now remove the battery.
Step 2: Replace the battery and then press the battery down until you hear a slight beep.
Note that the emitted sound is not loud and you may want to keep the audience close to your ears.
Stage 3: Repeat the above process four more times. The fifth sound emitted is slightly different from the previous one to indicate that the audience is in pairing mode.
Step 4: Meanwhile, unlink the AirTag from the old phone it was paired with.
step 5: Enable all necessary connections like Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on your new iPhone. Now hold the AirTag near your phone (your phone must be unlocked) and the link card will appear on your phone screen.
Then you can start using AirTag again.
No More Misplaced Items
Now that you know what your AirTag can do, how do you plan to use it? Are you planning on attaching it to your car key (like I did) or placing it in your wallet?
