How to Update Your iPhone from iOS 10 Beta to iOS 10 Public Release

Stable, iOS 10 Public Release has been out for quite some time, and if you’re in Public Beta, you might want to upgrade to stable build. Unless, of course, you want to stay on the cutting edge of iOS 10 updates. So, if you want to switch from iOS 10 Beta to iOS 10 Public Release, you can do it like this:

Backup Your iPhone

The first step to take when you do something like this is to back up your iPhone. I can’t stress this enough, you should Always Back up your iPhone. This will help prevent accidental data loss and save you from pulling your hair out in case something goes wrong. If you don’t know how to backup your iPhone, you can check our article about it.

After backing up your iPhone, you can continue with this guide to update from Beta to Public Release of iOS 10.

Update on your iPhone

Updating your iPhone to the latest Public Release is fairly easy and possible even without connecting your iPhone to a Mac or PC with iTunes on it. To do this, simply follow the steps below:

note: I tried this method and didn’t lose any data; however, I still recommend backing up your iPhone before taking these steps.

1. On your iPhone, navigate to: Settings -> General -> Profile.

2. Here, tap on it. iOS Beta Software Profileand then “Delete profile“.

3. You will be prompted password; enter and then press “To delete“.

4. change your iPhone Turn it off by pressing the power button and swiping to turn it off.

5. Now turn your iPhone back on.

This will remove the Public Beta profile from your iPhone and you will only receive updates that Apple pushes to casual and general users. If you don’t want to use this method, there is another way you can use. However, it does involve using iTunes, so keep a lightning cable handy.

Update Using iTunes

If you want, you can use iTunes to remove the beta profile from your iPhone as well. To do this, simply follow the steps below:

note: Once again, don’t forget to back up your iPhone before doing this. This method may cause data loss if the update fails and you have to restore your iPhone using iTunes.

1. First, connect your iPhone to your Mac. After doing that, press and hold the Power button and Home button at the same time. Even if the Apple logo appears, don’t let it go. This is your iPhone. Recovery Mode.

2. iTunes will automatically prompt you to Update your iPhone. Click “Update”.

3. In the next dialog, click on “.Update” Again.

4. Click on “To accepton your computer to install the latest Public Release version of iOS 10 on your iPhone.

Your iPhone will now be running the latest Public Version of iOS, and if you want, you can go to the Apple beta website and unenroll your device from there.

You can choose to use any of the methods mentioned above to update your iPhone to the latest stable build of iOS 10. It allows you to get the latest features and bug fixes before everyone else, while remaining in beta; beta versions are always prone to encounter both major and minor issues. So unless you have a good reason to stay on the iOS 10 beta, you should definitely update your phone to the stable and bug-free (mostly) iOS 10 Public Release.
