How to Unjailbreak Your iPhone and Stay with iOS 8.4

If you’ve jailbroken your iPhone or iPad but want to go back to vanilla land, here’s how to unjailbreak your iPhone while staying on the same iOS version.

An iOS 8.4 jailbreak was released last month just hours after the iOS 8.4 update itself went public. This was by no means a major update, but it does include Apple Music, the company’s own music streaming service that aims to compete in a market saturated with Spotify, Pandora, Tidal, Rdio and more.

However, iOS 8.4 is currently the latest version of iOS, and those who want to jailbreak their current iPhone or iPad can easily do so using the TaiG jailbreak tool on Windows or the PP jailbreak tool on Mac.

However, jailbreak isn’t for everyone, and if you find that your jailbroken iPhone or iPad isn’t really what you expected, all hope is not lost as you can easily unjailbreak and return to a normal iOS experience.

A new tool called Cydia Impactor allows you to unjailbreak your iOS device and stay on the version of iOS you are using instead of having to update it to the latest version of iOS.

Fortunately, for now, you don’t have to worry about having to update to the latest iOS version to remove the jailbreak, because the latest version is already jailbreakable, but this is a great tool to have when iOS 9 comes out, it probably won’t be jailbreakable at first.

Here’s how to use Cydia Impactor and jailbreak your iPhone or iPad while staying on the same iOS version.

The first thing you will want to do is to go into Cydia and install Cydia Impactor, which you can find by searching for Cydia Impactor and typing “Cydia Impactor”. From there, tap to view the tool and then tap in the top right corner. Then select it from the popup that appears.

Once you’ve installed and are ready to unjailbreak, make sure to back up your iOS device and then turn off Find My iPhone by going to . If something goes wrong during the jailbreak process, saved settings, photos, music, etc. You’ll want to make a backup so you don’t lose any of your valuable data, including

Now, run Cydia Impactor and you’ll be greeted with a few things you need to know before continuing, some of which I’ve mentioned before, but it’s a good idea to take a good look at the list. After that, tap on it to start the process and then tap on it to confirm.

Sit back and relax while the tool does its job. Depending on how much data you have stored on your device, it can take up to twenty minutes to complete (a 128GB full device will take longer than a 16GB device), so be patient. Once done, you’ll be greeted with the iOS Setup Assistant, which you might have been familiar with when you first set up your iPhone when you bought it, and it will give you the famous Hello.

You just have to complete the installation process as usual and you will eventually reach the home page where you will have a clean slate on the same iOS version you left off.

If you want to re-jailbreak your iPhone or iPad, simply follow the guides linked above; you will set off. Jailbreaking is a really easy process and the tools used have come a long way since the early days of iOS.
