While there are a ton of Bluetooth speakers that can improve your iPhone’s volume and quality, sometimes you need a quick and dirty method to make your iPhone’s speaker louder. Here are some tricks you can use to boost your iPhone 6’s speaker.
Let’s be real: Bluetooth speakers are costly, and you don’t even have $50 for a decent Bluetooth speaker because you spend all your savings on apps and games from the iTunes App Store, among other iPhone 6 accessories. So where does that leave you?
Fortunately, there are ways to increase the volume of your iPhone 6’s speaker using items you probably already have in your home, thus without costing you a penny.
The iPhone 6’s speaker just gets too loud, or at least Apple only lets it get that loud. Sometimes you want to listen to music while you are in the shower or preparing dinner, but even if you turn the volume all the way up, you may not be able to hear the music from running water or the mixer.
Fortunately, there are several methods you can use to increase the volume of your iPhone 6’s speaker without having to buy a Bluetooth speaker, but keep in mind that these methods will only amplify the speaker’s volume and not necessarily improve its quality. sound.
Use a Glass
Everyone has a glass at home (or at least you should). You might think that these mechanisms are only made for consuming your favorite beverage, but they can also be used to increase the volume of your iPhone 6’s speaker.
Placing your iPhone in a glass can increase the volume tremendously. Make sure the bottom of the iPhone is placed on the glass first, with the speaker facing down.
Music coming out of the iPhone 6’s speaker will bounce off the bottom of the glass and shoot out through the wider opening at the top of the glass, creating a sort of megaphone effect. This will also muffle the music a bit, get rid of the natural high treble from the iPhone’s speaker, and add some “virtual bass” if you want. This is a little easier and quicker than the drinking glass trick as you don’t have to go looking for glasses or anything else. Plus, the resonant nature of the bathrooms alone can amplify the sound even more, making it a great trick to use if you still like to listen to music in the shower.
The sound quality will not be better as it is the same speaker that delivers the music, but the volume should be much higher.
Also, while many users may find this to be an obvious statement, it still needs to be said: only put your iPhone in a dry sink, not when it’s wet or has water in it. Water and electronics don’t mix, and if you decide to put your iPhone in a wet sink, you’ll quickly learn that the hard way.
DIY Amplifier
If you’re feeling a little crafty and want to make a more permanent amplifier for your iPhone 6, you can go the DIY route and make your own iPhone 6 speaker amplifier.
One of our favorite things is to make an amplifier from a Pringles box, using the long tube as a megaphone to amplify the sound naturally. You will need an empty box of Pringles, two large binder clips, toilet paper, tape and scissors.
All you have to do is cut a slit towards the bottom of the Pringles box where your iPhone will slide into. Then tape the binder clips to the sides of the Pringles box to prevent them from slipping.
If you’re curious about toilet paper, simply fill it loosely and evenly inside the Pringles box. This is to drown out the “phone” echo you’ll inevitably get when playing music from the Pringles box, so toilet paper is an essential component to the project, but not strictly necessary.
Once everything is put together you can spray paint it to give it a neat look and blend in with your home decor or leave it as is to make it look truly DIY.
