Along with announcing iOS 14, the move to ARM for Mac, and a host of other new tools for developers, Apple announced a surprise update for AirPods Pro earlier this year at WWDC. Currently available to all iOS users running the latest software on their device, this update adds two exclusive features to Apple’s flagship TWS earphones.
One of these features is ‘Spatial Sound’. Adds 3D surround sound support to headphones. With Spatial Audio, Apple says users can experience movies and TV shows with immersive omnidirectional sound for a cinema-like feel.
It mainly uses AirPods Pro’s existing sensors to adjust the sound according to users’ head movements in relation to the source device.
How To Turn On/Off Spatial Audio for AirPods Pro
So, if you are AirPods Pro user and running the latest iOS 14 build on your device, here is how you can turn on Spatial Audio. It’s as easy as a Sunday morning. Simply follow the steps below and you will be golden.
- Connect your AirPods Pro to your iPhone or iPad.
- go “Settings” and then open “Bluetooth”.
- Find your AirPods Pro from the list and tap the “i” button Besides.
- On this page, scroll down a bit until you find the newly added ones. Spatial Sound choice.

Alternative Method of Turning Spatial Sound On
Now, apart from that, there is also a quick way to access the feature directly from the control center. For this:
- Swipe down from the top right corner of your iPhone. Download Control Center.
- From the drop-down menu, 3D touch or long press on soundbar (for haptic touch).
- here, you will Find the Spatial Sound icon just below the screen.
- tap this button to turn the feature on/off
