The new LG G4 is a powerful smartphone with a big screen, beautiful genuine leather design and a great camera. However, it is loaded with tons of software features that are helpful but can sometimes get in the way of what users want to do on their phones. One of them is Smart Bulletin and here is how to disable or turn it off.
On April 28, the LG G4 was announced in New York, and earlier this month it finally went on sale from all five major carriers in the United States. Now that millions of buyers are enjoying it, some are fed up with certain features like Smart Bulletin and want to remove them.
Just like HTC Blinkfeed, Samsung’s My Magazine and many other news or content curators, LG Smart Bulletin takes information from multiple sources on your device and neatly displays them all in one space. This is a great feature, but one that isn’t for everyone. Read on to see how to turn it off.
A swipe to the left of your main home screen on the LG G4 takes you to Smart Bulletin. This is where LG puts QRemote controls for quick access, LG Health steps and fitness tracking information, calendar appointments, music, quick settings and more in one place. Essentially, collecting all kinds of information in one place that is easy to find, use and manage.
This was one of our favorite parts of the LG G4, but you may want to turn it off if you want your home screen to put icons where you want them, or if you don’t want to use some of LG’s apps inside Smart Bulletin. Doing so will return that left page to add more icons and more to the home screen. Below are the steps to turn it off completely and give you control of your device.
Instructions
There are actually two ways to turn off Smart Bulletin. One is extremely simple, and the second is deep in the settings menu in the same area, you’ll have to go if you want to turn it back on. Lets start.
Swipe from left to right on your home screen to go to Smart Bulletin, then select the gear-shaped icon in the upper-right corner of the screen. This takes you to the Smart Bulletin settings, where you can change and customize what is shown and what is not in your newsletter. Customize it as you like or simply tap the On/Off button to turn it off as shown below.
That’s it, you’ve now turned off Smart Bulletin. Now drag the app icons to the left edge and your phone will create a new home screen where it used to be and you can fill it with any app or widget you want.
However, there is another way to turn it off, and the same steps outlined and shown below are the steps you need to take to turn Smart Bulletin back on if you want it back.
Go to Settings > display > home screen > and tap to turn on Smart Bulletin. If you haven’t turned it off yet, it opens the same customization screen shown above and lets you choose what to show or simply turn it off. You can turn it off as we mentioned earlier here, or turn it back on if you want to give LG’s software a second chance.
Also, if you plan to use a 3rd party home launcher like Google Now Launcher, Nova, or any popular screen replacement app from the Google Play Store, it’s a good idea to turn off Smart Bulletin just to make sure it’s not running in the background. when you don’t need it.
