How to Turn Off iPhone WiFi in iOS 11

Here’s how to turn off WiFi on iPhone and iPad with iOS 11. Apple changed the way Control Center works with iOS 11. Tapping the WiFi button in Control Center will disconnect you from your current WiFi network. This doesn’t actually turn off the WiFi.

Apple has set this up so you can disconnect from WiFi, but you can still use AirDrop so your iPhone or iPad can automatically connect to another network when you get close to a network you’ve joined before.

Many users want to completely turn off WiFi on iPhone or iPad for security or just personal preference. Here’s how to do it.

How to Turn Off iPhone WiFi in iOS 11

Simply swiping up and using the WiFi option in Control Center does not turn WiFi off. This is the same as using 3D Touch to navigate to the more advanced connectivity options in the Control Center. What you need to do to turn off WiFi completely;

1. Open settings.
2. Tap Wi-Fi.
3. Tap the Wi-Fi off toggle.

That’s all you need to do to turn WiFi off. After turning it off, you can turn it back on from the Control Center by tapping WiFi there. When it’s off, you’ll see a small line in the WiFi option in Control Center instead of just greyed out.
