The new Home App is part of the free macOS Mojave upgrade and adds smart home controls to your Mac. The controls are useful, but if you have lots of smart home controls on your doors, it can be annoying trying to get work done.

You can use the general notification settings on your Mac to turn off all Home notifications on your Mac. When you change any of these notification settings, you’re only doing it on your Mac. They won’t sync with your iPhone or iPad.
- Open settings.
- Open notifications.
- Scroll down and click Home.
- Chosen person.
This will turn off all Home notifications on your Mac. You can also choose a different style or choose whether you want a sound to play. This is the simplest way to stop all notifications, but you may want to customize them.

On Mac I prefer to customize Home notifications so that I can only see what’s important to me and only when I want to see them. You can change the options to turn off notifications for a particular device, the time you see notifications, and whether you want to receive notifications when you’re home, away, or when someone else is at home or away.
- Open the Home App on your Mac.
- Right Click or Double Click on a Specific Device.
- Click on Settings…
- Click on Status & Notifications

You can choose the best option for your needs. This makes it easy to receive notifications only when you want them. For example, I want to receive a door notification on my mac when I’m not at home, but I don’t need this notification if I’m sitting at home during the day. You can customize this with different devices in your smart home so you only get the notifications you want, when you want them.
I turned off the door notifications when I was at home because it interrupts my work but I always left the garage door notification on as it is less open during the day.
