How to Turn Off Galaxy S6 Notification LED Light

The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge have a notification LED light on the top of the device that flashes for incoming alerts, notifications, missed calls and more. This guide explains how to turn off or disable the Galaxy S6 notification light.

Since Samsung’s latest smartphone is now in the hands of millions of owners, we constantly receive emails and inquiries regarding certain tasks. One of them is how to disable the notification LED. While this feature is handy, it often flashes all night and can be annoying, and we’ve even heard reports of it flashing constantly even when there are no notifications.

The Galaxy S6 notification light turns on when the device is charging and changes from red to orange when low, then green when full. It then flashes continuously when you have unread messages, emails, missed calls, and other notifications, which is nice.

If you’re having issues with the Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge notification light constantly flashing, or if you want to disable it so that it doesn’t bother you, here are a few steps. It can be done in less than a minute.

Users will start by tapping the gear-shaped settings button in the notification pop-up bar or by going into settings by locating the settings app in the app tray. Go to ‘Device’ then ‘Sounds & notifications’ and scroll to the bottom.

You will see that the last option listed under Settings > Device > Sounds & notifications is “LED indicator”. To turn it off, simply tap or swipe the button. That’s it, you’re done and now you have completely turned off the notification LED light on the Galaxy S6.

It will no longer blink when you miss notifications or alerts, it will not be on while recording, and you will never see the notification light while charging. Personally, I’d like to be able to disable it for notifications, but leave the charging status as a useful feature, but unfortunately that’s not an option.

So go to settings and turn off the LED indicator and you are done. It’s that simple. If you decide to want the notification LED back or try to customize it with the above app, simply turn it back on and re-enable it in the same menu.
