He’s finally here. In this guide, we will officially show you how to trade a Pokémon in Pokémon GO. We also explain how to use the trading feature, any limits and the cost of trading.
About two years after its release, the developer Niantic just added friends, gift giving, commerce and more. You’ve probably stopped playing Pokémon GO a while ago, but will want to download it again every month to catch shiny Pokémon on community days or to trade a Pokémon in Pokémon GO.
If you’re missing a few Legendary monsters or need an area to complete your Pokédex, make a few trades and get them. However, it is not as simple or cheap as it sounds. Get ready to make friends and spend lots of stardust.
When Can You Trade in Pokémon GO?
Before explaining how to trade a Pokémon in Pokémon GO, clear some confusion. When this feature first came out, Niantic only allowed maximum level 40 players to use the new friends, social and trading features. This is no longer the case.
As of writing (June 25, 2018), add a Pokémon, friend, and use all these new features. Anyone can enjoy social stuff, but you have to be level 10 to trade. After that you can add friends, send/receive gifts and start getting new monsters. here is more Info from SilphRoad.
How to Trade Pokémon in Pokémon GO
First, you’re going to need friends. Each player now has a unique code that they can share with their real friends or poking friends and they will appear in the new “Friends” tab. Tap on the trainer icon (bottom left) and swipe right to use this new tab. Also, trading only works if you are within 100 meters of your friend. Gifts are not limited by space, but you must be physically close to the person to trade. This is to prevent cheats and scammers from trading.
Basically, you add a friend, you find them in your friends list, and tap “exchange” in the bottom right. Here are step-by-step instructions.
Tap “Add Friend” and become friends, then press “Trade” to get started
- To prepare a trade, be “Friends” with someone (give him your Coach code or ask them) in the bottom left, select .
- meet and trade
- Select your friend from your list and tap in the lower right corner.
- When your friend is available to trade, you want to trade.
- do they want to give you
- do not trade 100% Pokémon before continuing (change HP, CP and IV)
- To officially trade a Pokémon in Pokémon GO, tap then tap .
Swapping Pokémon CP, HP, IV, and stats all change
Pokémon GO Trade Cost, Stardust and More Details
Our instructions above are just the basic steps for trading a Pokémon, but there’s so much more to it. You can only trade special monsters like Shiny or Legendary once a day, and these special trades are extremely expensive and cost around 1,000,000 powders. Yep, 1 million stardust that most players don’t have. However, this can discourage anyone who is cheating, bots or cheats and buys/sells/trades accounts. Regular transactions are cheap, easy and fun.
Additionally, swaps become more affordable when you’re “good friends” by raiding someone on your list, sending each other loads of gifts, or being friends for 90 days. Trading a Legendary monster with a good friend Only Costs 40,000 Stardust instead of 1 million.
Transactions can be expensive, but you get XP and Candy for every transaction
Both traders have to pay the same amount of Stardust, so make a shiny for a shiny. Then, as we mentioned earlier, the statistics change. Don’t trade 100% thinking it will be 100%, it won’t happen.
In closing, once you have traded a Pokemon, that particular monster cannot be traded again. It’s yours to keep forever. You can trade with another monster of the same monster, but you cannot trade with a monster you have already traded. We expect some of these to change and evolve over time. This feature is brand new and Niantic is probably still trying to sort out the confusion. On community days, we hope they lower the 1 Million limit (or friend limit) so we can trade more easily without spending months on stardust.
