Microsoft had its big day at the Big Apple today by officially releasing Windows 8 and the Surface RT Tablet. If you’re near one of several Microsoft stores, you can pick up a Surface RT Tablet from midnight. And if you’re ordering online, you’ll have to wait a few weeks for your shipment to arrive. But what if you’ve pre-ordered like me and are expecting delivery on Friday? It looks like Microsoft and Fedex aren’t quite in sync yet on tracking these orders, but there is a way. Thanks to Frank Garcia of Ultra-Mobile PC Tips here’s how to do it.
Go to your pre-order receipt and copy your order number with the MS on the front. then go Fedex website. Under Tracking, select By Reference. Enter your order number, destination country and postal code of the destination. Follow. You should see where your order is like this. Mine supposedly left Alaska at 2:54 in that time zone, so I don’t know for sure if it will hit my East Coast digs tomorrow.
Note, though, that the Type Keyboard I ordered shipped separately from Interestate in Harrisburg, PA, and is scheduled to arrive tomorrow.
