How to Take Screenshots on Android 4.0 with Galaxy Nexus

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich includes a built-in and easy way to (finally) take screenshots on smartphones. This has long been a desire among those of us who review Android phones, but regular consumers also have uses for it.

i doubt Damn it, AutoCorrect! will soon have many more examples of Android craze to go along with the iPhone entries. Also, people can now share cute Home screen setups and fantastically arranged widgets with friends on forums.

To take a screenshot on Galaxy Nexus, all you have to do is press and hold the Power and Volume Down buttons at the same time. This is easy on the Nexus as they are on opposite sides of the device and can be easily pressed together with one hand.

Once captured, the screen shrinks to a small bezel before quickly zooming out. A notification in the top bar indicates that the screenshot has been saved.

You can reach the last screen from Notifications. To see the rest, go to Gallery where there is a dedicated Screenshot album.

Users can email the screens to them or connect the Nexus to your computer via USB. You will find the Screenshots in the Pictures folder.

Depending on your phone or other device, the mechanism for this may be different and the button combination may not work. Let’s hope the manufacturers don’t leave you in the dark about how to make this happen.
